Our younger daughter recently decided to attend El Rancho Middle School. It was a decision she made during the summer after interacting with kids from the school at various local community events and learning about the exciting academic and music programs the school offers. We waited till the school got back from break and visited the school office first thing. The staff was cordial and very accommodating. The registrar signed us up for the Math Algebra Readiness test next morning and picked up the phone and called our old school to get the records transferred. Even though this was such a last minute move for us our daughter got all the classes she wanted. We volunteered the day of Registration and she even got to meet the Principal while waiting in line to get her picture taken - that was the highlight of her day. The Administrators and Counselors are amazing and have an open door policy. Kudos to El Rancho for providing an exceptional academic environment for our kids.

We visited the school two years ago upon moving to CA to register our 8th grader and decided against it because of the treatment we received from the school's registrar. But living in the area and knowing the kids we decided to give it another try for our younger child and we got the same treatment from the same employee. The registrar at El Rancho is curt and dismissive and her demeanor reads "you are not welcomed here." This time she refused to give me a registration packet because it was her last one. The school's website declares '"At El Rancho Charter School we are always looking at ways to improve. Our charter status gives us the ability to think outside the box . I would strongly encourage the Orange Superintendent to investigate this employee and consider this review and TAKE ACTION TO IMPROVE THIS SCHOOL BY REMOVING THE FIRST PERSON A NEW STUDENT AND PARENT ENCOUNTERS UPON NEEDING TO ENROLL. WE PAY TAXES HERE AND SHOULD NOT BE TREATED THIS WAY. Her manner is blatantly appalling and we are in disbelief that the Orange Unified School District would be accepting of such behavior especially in an educational environment.

Musical Theatre program can be toxic for the student. Leah Pitsack has favorites. If your child is no a favorite of hers beware. In the 2 years we were associated with the program. there was a student revolt forcing the teacher to go on sick leave the last two weeks of school. the teacher encouraged a parent to file a complaint of bullying against a student who's Jewish parents were questioning the wisdomof performing religious Xmas songs. All other teachers reported exemplary behavior for this student. Another student was unjustly accused by a parent of stealing. the parent threatened the student who was pulled out of school for her safety. A student was accosted on Facebook by a parent for for not giving her daughter a lead role in a dance routine. At no time did the teacher ever intervene. After two years my child has learnt that talent does not count. What counts is how happy you keep the producer.

Very unhappy with the administration. Very two faced not trustworthy. Don't send your kids here

Great school. Very happy there. The honors program is excellent. Because it is a charter school the principal has flexibility in making decisions without the bureacracy. Parents need to volunteer a min. of 10 hours a year. Overall a great learning environment.

This school has an amazing musical theatre program. The teacher Ms. Pitzak has won many awards of California and for the USA. She won best drama teacher in the whole California and every year is invited with her whole musical theatre to preform in D.C. and New York. Once even Japan! This school has the greatest support that you can give/

Nov 2007 My son is in the 8th grade this year (at El Rancho) and my daughter will begin 7th grade there the Fall of 08'. Over all I am very happy with (most) all the teachers my son has had so far. They seem to really care & spend time actually TEACHING the curriculum not just going through the motions sorta speak. My son really loves Ms. Stone (math) she has helped him go from a 'D' to a strong B. I've unfortunately had bad experience's with some of the secretaries that work there (rudeness not acknowledging my presence for a long time) and the school's psychologist-she seems very nice yet I don't feel she is accurate on her 'grading'. Overall I would probably give the school about a B.

My daughter is doing well at El Rancho. We didn't expect miracles but she has turned things around 100%. Hats off to the staff and all her instructors. Very happy with the results wish I had gone to a school like this! Take advantage of the 'bridge' program for incoming 7th graders...it really helps!

Year-round schedule some teachers truly dedicated others just going through the motions positive honors classes mandatory parental involvement of 10 hours per school year relatively safe/secure atmosphere minimal school spirit

I'm a freshman right now and the last two years were great for me at El Rancho! I made many friends met new people and most of the teachers were just awesome. I learned a lot at E.R. and all of it has helped me in high school. Probably the best and most influential teachers are Mr. Keuilian- He is totally awesome! He teaches both Spanish and French. I took french and he made it so much fun for us! My favorite teacher! Mr. Fryer- Like Mr. K he made learning so much fun! I always looked forward to science class (unless there was a really hard test) Ms. Stone- She is the nicest best teacher ever! Math is my least favorite subject but she always made it better. I enjoyed her class very much. E.R. is an amazing school!

This school is great for my child. She has been having fun making a lot of new friends learning many things having fun assemblies and meeting great new teachers.

Very good school. This is an 'year-round' school so they don't get a long summer vacation (which is good for us). They do get three weeks off every 9 weeks. It is considered a 'charter school' so uniforms are required (shirts have school logo and pants/shorts/skirts can either be bought at school or just about any dept. store (Dickies brand). Staff keeps tight control of kids (no holding hands hugging etc.) Academics are very good; they have after school tutoring or homework clubs for the kids and are monitored by teachers.

El rancho is one of the best schools yet.. teachers are great and they have an outstanding science olympiad team.

El Rancho has an excellent Science Olympiad program! The coaches Mr. Walker Mr. Miller Mr. Oishi and Mrs. Ross have deveoted many hours to helping the students to achieve success. Several other teachers have contributed and there is good parent support. This is just one of the programs available at El Rancho.

I am a former student at El Rancho. I enjoyed my time there. I was there last year when the school went charter. I was involved in the band. The teachers are excellent and really prepared me for high school. I am a 9th grader at Canyon High. My greatest teachers were Ms.Mirise and Mr.Oishi. Thanks for a great two years.

I am a former student of El Rancho. I recommend all parents send their child to this school education is the number priority in this school and it was great! we all were able to learn and have fun. All of the teachers were more than willing to help me when I needed it - Ms. Shannon Mirise a history teacher at El Rancho was a big help and part of my success at El Rancho.
