I am thankful for the solid foundation that GCES has provided for my child. The first school years lay the groundwork for a student's entire academic performance; and GCES thanks to Principal Farris and dedicated teachers have that total picture in mind with their curriculum.

The camaraderie and dedication of the teachers and staff at Gold Canyon Elementary School far surpasses any other schools I have been part of or had the opportunity to witness. As a new employee I never felt like an outsider everyone was so welcoming and made sure to include me in everything from school functions to outside activities. Principal Farris' office is open to anyone and everyone; she always makes time to talk whether it is just to 'chit chat' or a matter of importance. She exemplifies the open door policy. I am glad to say that I am a Gold Canyon Eagle.

Gold Canyon Elementary School has provided my children with a quality education. They have been at Gold Canyon since Kindergarten and have had wonderful caring teachers every year. One is now in middle school and was very prepared for this next step. Besides offering a quality education the Gold Canyon staff has always made my children feel special. I couldn't ask for a better place for my children's education.

Gold Canyon Elementary School is the best school ever. From the Principal all the way down to volunteers everyone puts kids first. I am proud of the kids here they work hard and are deserving of their Highly Performing Label!

As the parent of a child with special education needs I can say that the administration teachers and staff that have joined my child's team over the years have been excellent. One exception to that was the hiring of a Non-Qualified 1st year teacher for the Communications Skills class in 2006. This has since been remedied but is the sole factor for my giving this school 4 stars instead of 5. We currently have 2 sons attending GCES Fall of 2009 they will be in 4th and 2nd grades. We look forward to the year ahead.

Gold Canyon Elementary is an excellent school! The principal is outstanding and cares deeply about the students in her care as well as the educators and all who work for her. It's very easy to communicate with the principal and she always has the child's best interest at heart. We find the techers to be supportive and creative with individual situations to help maximize learning. The teachers are professional and have a genuine interest in their students' welfare and academic achievement. The teachers strive to do their best to ensure that every child in their classroom is successful. We can't say enough about the principal teachers and staff. We are extremely happy with Gold Canyon Elementary!

GCES in our experience has addressed my daughter s needs and is an exceptional academic school. My daughter has been challenged throughout her years at GCES and met or excelled in her AIMS scores. Teachers/staff and Mrs. Farris show their love for education and the children. The library music and physical ed programs are challenging and fun. GCES ROCKS! In the end no program can substitute for a parent. President Barack Obama

I have 2 children at Gold Canyon 2nd grade and 5th grade. I feel my children have received a good education they have both had A's on report cards. The AIMS test have come back with very high marks. Whenever we have had any questions or issues I feel the principal has always talked to the children at their level and made them feel that they gave input to the solution which I appreciate. I hope they will continue with the good education they are teaching

I am a parent with two children that will be attending this fall. My daughter who will return as a third grader has learned so much and received all A's and B's. All of her teachers since kindergarden have been so helpful and nice I couldn't be happier. I'm excited for my son who will be going to kindergarden this fall because I'm sure he will go through all the same great experiences as his sister. The staff is also very nice and helpful every time I have a question. Mrs. Farris has also been very helpful and always made my daughter feel very special. She truly does care about the students parents and school and it shows everytime I've had a conversation with her. Thanks Gold Canyon we look forward to another great year!

We have one child attend GCES K-5th and 2 more currently attending. We have been very statisfied with every teacher our children have had. They have challenged them in addition to providing any additional assitance they have required in mastering various skill and subjects. We have also found the principle to be very supportive and open to addressing any concerns or challenges we have encountered. It has been a great learning enviroment for our children.

I am a parent with 4 children that have been in attendance of Gold Canyon Elementary and are excelling! I agree with most school policies and have been able to communicate concerns I may have with the principal and teachers. While there have been some situations that were less than ideal and some differences of opinion that took my intervention to rectify I am a firm believer that is is MY responsibility to be the advocate for my children! There is a unique sense of community and caring which I have discovered while taking the time to get to know teachers staff and policies. I have seen most teachers go out of their way when it will benefit their classroom and the learning success of their students. My children had AIMS scores that mostly exceeded all state standards! For every challenge there has been a great stride in progress!

Our daughter just completed third grade at GCES she exceeded in all catagories of her AIMS test! We are excited about the committment by the teachers and staff to give her the tools to excel. We have a great relationship with Mrs. Farris and can approach her with questions and/or concerns about anything.

We just completed our first full year at Gold Canyon. I was very pleased with the quality of teaching communication and leadership. We just received the AIMS scores for both of our children and they excelled. Thank you GC staff and leadership for making this possible!

I have one son who attend this school and i hate! i am pulling my son out asap. I do not like the way the principals talks to adults she talks to you like you are a child. And that she knows more about than you. If you take it to the school board they will agree with her and tell you she is a wonderful person and does a great job at what she does. My son has gone there for 4 yrs now and i have not hated it till the end of last yr and this yr. I gave it the benifit of the doubt thinking it would get better and it has not. The rest of the staff is not any better. They can be very rude to you at times and they are all about money money.

I Believe GCES has really gone down hill since Mrs. Farris took over when Mr. Dalby retired. I have been an active parent in my children's education and have seen many changes with this school. I am very sad to see this school drastically continuing to drop. There are great teachers who still work there. I just know that the principal's leadership is very poor and the moral is very depressing. Doesn't the school board look into this? If so then why have they not done anything about it? Will it take a petetion to change the principal there?

I have not had any bad experiences with GCES - all three of our kids have had great teachers that have communicated well with us on our children (the good & the bad stuff). I think the principal has done a great job with her staff the children and the parents. As for parent involvement - that's up to the parents it is what you make of it. After school activities/clubs - I am grateful for the academic teaching that the staff provides but I believe it is the families responsibility for the child's social involvement.

I think Gold Canyon is a great school and I'm grateful my kids go there.

Thank goodness my child will be moving up and out of this school. It was fine before this principal came on board. I think it starts at the top and things have gotten worse since the new superintendent of the district was selected. Our only hope is that a new superintendent be brought in and all the rif-raf be gotten rid of. The turnover at this school is unheard of and the quality of most teachers at this school is unacceptable which reflects ultimately on the principal and furthermore on the superintendent and school board. Let's get on track and clean up the schools in this district so our children can succeed.

GCES has a lack of parent participation and low moral. I feel are all due to the leadership of the principal. I think if there was new leadership it would turn around. I don't believe the principal wants this school to achieve. I feel GCES caters to lower academics and therefore leaves the middle and upper acheivers left out and not challenged.
