Test Scores by grade

Pennsylvania System of State Assessments (PSSA)

In 2011-2012 Pennsylvania used the Pennsylvania System of State Assessments (PSSA) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 11 in math and reading, in grades 5, 8 and 11 in writing, and in grades 4, 8 and 11 in science. The results for reading, writing and math are displayed on GreatSchools profiles. The PSSA is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Pennsylvania. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the test.

I really don't like this school I love being social and i can't at this school. Also the school can't afford simple field trips or anything. Spening the their money on Smartboard and a new sidewalk. I am considering East Stroudsburg for my child. ALSO THE PRINCIPAL IS NOT INVOLVE WITH ANYTHING!

I'm currently a student here and am looking to move out of the district. the community is unaccepting and cold and I feel as if i am known for not who I am now but who i was in first grade. The school is small so you really feel like you're under a microscope. The teachers are okay but the curriculum is too easy.

Hello the Stroudsburg Junior HIgh is a great school Besides the fact the teachers really dont care about us and the there is so much drama they are all strict and no activities just learn and when were still doing bad in the PSSA scores?

The school has offered many wonderful activities for the students. This school has made a great impact on how they are treated which is very nice and their PSSA scores has increased over the years.

They let children down. Their way of dealing with disipline is through them out or shove them under the rug. In school suspension or out of school suspension as a reward for the student. One time you make a mistake your out. Yet so many other children get away with worse. Don't we pay enough in tax money to get a decent education for our children?

I go to stroudsburg junior highschool and I would like to say that the school is great with great sports programs and students get a lot of freedom. The only bad thing is that there isn't a lot of budget for the sports programs and various activities

Art music and sports are really good. the acdemic programs are are actually done well. though the advanced classes are quite hard to get into.

Stroudsburg Jr. High does a good job in the academic programs. They provide us (the students) with various options as to what we want to take. Some of the academics could be more challenging (such as math) but overall they are pretty good. We do have a wide variety of music art and sports but sports are more available at SJH than anything else. The level of parental involvement in our school is somewhat standoffish there aren't that many parents involved in our school right now. Overall the SJH is a very good school.

The student/teacher ratio shown for this school is grossly misleading-there is no way it's that low; just look in any room. The behavior of the lunchroom staff is unprofessional. The behavior of the office staff is equally as unprofessional and rude to both parents and students alike.

I believe that this school is academically enriching and has much to offer when talking about activities. The pricipals work very hard to teach the students right from wrong. There are many classes to choose from in each field of learning. Parents are usually highly involved with extracurricular activities. The teachers are not demanding but are open to all students who are willing to learn. If the student is not cooperating of course there will be punishment. There is punishment everywhere. The parents teachers and other staff are caring towards the students who attend this school and do not judge them. If all the schools I have attended were this amazing we'd have an amazing amount of high school graduates. People should not judge the staff at this school because they don't know how hard the staff works to make this school the best it can be.

Although many parents find this school dangerous it is actually not that at all. It all depends on how your kid is. If he is a good kid you won't have to worry about fights. There is a new school being built just up the hill that is 5 stories and will easily accomidate all the new students moving into the area.

This school has 1500 kids in it when it [is] donly suppose to have 1200. Many fights happen here. Not only does the kid who start it get in trouble but so does the kid who didn't start it. They don't care about racial discrimination. My kid went to school here and sat right next to the kid who got called a n*gger and went to the principal and the principal only gave him a warning. Do not want to go to this school.

This school has a dress code that is not enforced. If a student is victimized by another and defends himself/herself the victim is punished as well. To add insult to injury the student is not only suspended but also receives a summons for disorderly conduct etc. Any parent wishing to fight these charges prepare to open your pocketbook to pay for an attorney to defend your child. Paying exhorbitant school taxes is not enough for the school administrators to try to get more money from hard working and supportive parents.

this is a very bad school with fights happening everyday. I do not recommend this school at all.
