My son is now completing 1st grade at Smith and I wrote a review when he was in the beginning of Kdg. telling of my experience then. I can still say after year 2 at Smith I am glad we made the choice to attend this school. The teachers are dedicated as is the principal. My son absolutely loves this school and we are sending our daughter there in the fall to start kdg. We have had no safety issues have not experience any negative issues in regards to bullying etc. only positive experiences thus far. We are looking forward to our future years at Smith!

My son has been attending Smith for 4yrs. He and I are very happy with this school the teachers are very involved with their students. Last year teasing was becoming a problem and all the teachers showed no tolerance for teasing or bullying I was very impressed. It was immediately stopped!

My son just started Kindergarten at Smith this year-2006. I must say I was apprehensive about this school and was possibly looking to switch schools prior to the beginning of the school year but I am glad I did not. WE LOVE SMITH and we love the teachers and staff and it is only week 3! The grounds are nice the school is nice and the kids attending are all academically driven. I highly recommend Smith to all area residents seeking schooling for their children. Someone mentioned something about the housing near the schools but that is honestly not even an issue the area is extremely safe...no worries at all. Feel confident in this choice. Come join us!

I homeschooled my son before sending him to this school for second grade...I was completely impressed with the genuine compassion the principal as well as the teachers had for all the children. My son became diabetic during the school year and the the entire school staff was trained on the details of diabetis in case of an emergency. As far as safety the school took all the necessary steps to ensure me that my son was safe. I felt confident leaving my child in their hands. With all the chaos going on in public schools today I tip my hat to Smith Elementary School the principal nursing staff and second grade teachers!

Smith is a very diversified school with many caring & dedicated staff members. They overcome the problems that go along with different income levels different racial backgrounds different learning abilities & disabilities and different language barriers. They are always willing to try different concepts and learning practices for the betterment of their children.

I did not feel my child was safe attending this school it is located in a neighborhood with surrounding federal housing projects the one teacher I met did not give me a great feeling (warm & fuzzy) there is a zero tolerence for drugs and tobacco on the campus yet the teacher was not willing to enforce this when it was brought to her attention.
