Woodbine Avenue School #23 is really good specially the involvement of the principal with the students participation in the school events and his coordination with the parents is really appreciable. However sometimes I see that the parents do not involve or participate in the school events. I think they should appreciate the efforts of the principal and school staff by participating in the school events.

Woodbine Avenue School #23 is one of the most diversified schools in this district. I believe the diversity the students face is what unites them. Each student has learned to respect one another regardless of nationality religion race etc. All students treat each other as equals! It is great to see all the Teacher / Principal participation at all the family events. Our school is a great school but there are certain things the students need and unfortunately there is not enough funds to provide for all the needs. PTO fundraisers can only do so much as majority of the families are single income homes. We have organized a parent volunteer committee to start a garden club targeted at some of the more behavioral challenged students. We hope by giving them something positive to work with will give them a sense of pride boost their self esteem and keep them out of trouble. The garden club will turn one of the unused courtyards into a reading garden for other students to enjoy. These funds will be a great asset to getting our project under way. Thank you Celia

Woodbine avenue elementary school is an awesome school where each day brings something new for kids to learn........where teachers are not just teaching but bringing out the best in each kid........they are the mentors guide n friend for each kid. The school principal is a wonderful person who guides students play with them n even gets dunked up in a watertank on field day. The principal takes pains to reach out to parents who need any kind of help of guidance. The school teaches everyone to help each another be polite.

First let me say that the Principal of this school is very pleasant to deal with I was however appalled by the lack of personality some of the teachers have at this school. I tried desperately to have my child sent to the Avenel Street School but based on our location he was assigned to Woodbine. I was turned off by one of the teachers as you could tell it was just a job to her. She boasted that she had been a teacher for over 10 years but the means NOTHING when you could care less about your students. She knew my son for only two weeks when she suggested he wasn t ready for that particular grade. When I advised her that not all children have the same learning style she basically said I have 25 kids what can I tell you. It should be mandatory for all teachers to take a course in learning styles and incorporate them into the classroom. I will say if the parents don t care why would the teachers? I was the ONLY parent at the back to school night asking questions about what was being taught. I looked like the crazy parent because I wanted to know what my child would learn and the teachers teaching style. I removed my son and he now attends a private school. He is excelling! It is a shame that you have to PAY in order for TEACHERS to give a darn.

i don't like the school as a parent because teachers don't encourage the kids at all.the school doesn't have good teaching staff.
