My children attend this school and it has been nothing but problems since day 1. The school wants to have a parent conference for any and everything that happens (ex. not listening so had to choose step 4) why is a parent required to drive to the school and have a 10 min conference about that when a simple phone call could be made? or they make you wait hours for meetings. They also will not let your child return to school until you do this ridiculous conference! There is NOT good communication between the parents/teachers or the staff for that matter. I would definitely NOT recommend this school. I will be making sure to take my kids out of this school after this year ends. VERY DISAPPOINTING....

This is not a desirable school for your children to attend. The neighborhood is not that good and the school has almost 1000 kids enrolled. Most of the parents are holding two and even three jobs to survive and their kids are suffering the consequences. Teachers are so so.

My school is a wonderful place to work. The students are respectful and they are working hard. We did have many teachers leave due to fhe fact that they added 20 more teaching days and didn't increase the salary to match that. The teachers that did stay are not mediocre but truly dedicated to our community and excellent. I feel lucky to work with them.

I have had a wonderful experience at Quentin Elementary School it's a very positive enviroment starting with the front office admnistration nurse teachers and any staff I was in contact with. Parents need to volunteer more in the school I see alot of staff members organizing and doing events for the students but parent are not helping out. They do attend events but will be nice if they can help too! Great job on motivating my son..

I am so blessed to work at Quentin Elementary. This is my 14th year as an educator and my 3rd school. I feel like I am very well supported in this district and school. I have never seen a principal as dedicated to every student's individual growth and safety as ours. She is very concerned with the growth of every teacher as well. I know that our school climate is safe and respectful with the Make Your Day program. There are many other teachers who feel the same way as I do and are looking forward to a long career here at Quentin Elementary.

The principal of this school is the WORST!! She does not respond to parents emails/concerns. I emailed her and instead of responding to me she had a teacher call me back to address my concerns. I was told that she "felt it was best if she wasn't involved" They do NOTHING in regards to children being bullied. They have given my son so called suggestions on how to be safe yet do NOTHING to address the bullying behavior of other students. There are a few good teachers and I do mean just a FEW the rest of them are rude and mean. I have witnessed first hand how rude and disrespectful they are to the students. Last week as I was picking up my child from school and a teacher was in a child's face yelling at him from the top of her lungs! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE school!!

This school may not be perfect but it is not the gang infested "prison" the previous review makes it out to be. The appearance of the school matches other schools in the district so singling it out as looking like a prison is a great over generalization. Also the claim that the school is infested with gangs is completely inaccurate. There have been absolutely no gang related fights or other disruptions this school year. Reviewer complaints about this school backing up to the Cashion neighborhood obviously don't know anyone from the neighborhood. I have lived in Cashion my whole life and there are many quality families with good gracious and kind people who contribute positively to the Quentin school environment. Also misrepresented is the claim that teachers at Quentin Elementary only stay for 1 or 2 years. There are in fact several teachers on the campus who have been with the school since it opened as well as many staff members who have been with the district even longer. Quentin isn't perfect but I challenge a parent to find a public school in AZ that is. If you have a problem with Quentin try making a positive suggestion or volunteering instead of complaining.

Quentin Elementary School has potential however I have experienced a positive and not so positive occurances. My child is currently 8th grade and I feel the school particularly the principal has not done her job successfully to ensure my child is ready for high school. My child's homeroom teacher left 2 weeks within the school year thereafter these children these students had TWO different long-term subs. I know first hand student's stuck in a long-term sub classroom do not get the education they deserve. After requesting directly to the principal for my child to be removed from a long-term sub she ensured me that by the following semester (January 2013) there would be a "highly qualified" teacher in that homeroom which in fact did NOT happen. At first I was disappointed about a wasted semester but then really iritated when the "highly qualified" teacher never arrived. I do not believe this school deserves to have my children at their school and I do not believe children/students are challenged at this school. Politeness does NOT get my children the education they deserve.

My son has been going to Quentin since Kindergarden and I have nothing but good experiences at this school. Administrative staff is very pleasant and professional.

I first hand have witnessed the drastic improvement in the school is it perfect NO although I will be honest the school has come along way. I am going to say that the new principal Ms. Couret has been very focused on the improvement of the school Educationally and wtih the school Spirit Since she has been on board the PTA has been formed that contributes each grade with awards each month for perfect attendance and the students nominate the Staff of the month which really makes a big difference with attendance and the school moral. I completely will stand by the 5 star rating as my children continue to go to this school as the FOCUS is the children not the area. I have confidence that the school will stand out in several different ways with the continued support of the Parents Community and our children. Such a pleasure to have my children attend an A rated school.

I agree with the positive comments presented on this panel. But I question the negative ones. My child attends this school and the school has demonstrated to have everything needed to be what it is. This is an A school for a reason. It is unfortunate that some have had incidents of negative experiences and are unable to see beyond the little toy they lost and see what a good school this is. One cannot let one negative incident obscure all the efforts the school principal and staff has put into our children education. At any given moment plan a visit to this school and you ll see lots of energetic staff working towards making the quality of our children s education better. Quentin has a strong and highly qualified principal teachers and staff and offers a great academic program. Parent involvement is encourage and welcome. The school takes care of any negative issue in due time; but you have to give'em that time. You won't be disappointed!

This is my child 1st experience at Quentin. So far it has been a positive one. The education received is very well exemplified once stepping into campus; the children are very well behaved. Children here have greeted us upon arrival open doors for us and politely guided us the right way. The parent involvement at this school is at the level of any other school. Any and all parents are welcome to volunteer. Administration is caring polite and professional at all times. The school principal is involved in the education of her students. She s cordial approachable and professional. There's a structured disciplined yet relax atmosphere between staff and students. My child attends Kinder-PM and his teacher follows an intense well structure curricula. I have to admit my son has been a bit of a challenge; yet she's always demonstrated to be very skilled and caring. I'm impress with so much learning in a 1/2 K! And this is being said from a parent who had her first child attend private school for all elementary. This school has all it needs to succeed! Excellent teachers strong principal and challenging academic programs! This is A good school to be in.

I have been with Quentin since it opened it's doors and have seen many changes take hold over the years. This year has probably been the best the school has seen. We have a very dedicated staff and administration who are pushing our students toward great success. We also have wonderful parents who truly work as partners in the education of their children. I am proud to be a member of the Quentin community!

It's true that the expectations for both teachers and students are higher than ever but the students are producing and their scores prove it! This school has come a long way since I started here over 5 years ago. Administration cares very much about the staff and students. The students here at Quentin are the best!

I am and have had 4 children attend this school and have seen changes of many sorts. If I may say so the current Principal MS. Couret is trying to improve the school and enviroment so that the final outcome may be that of a pleasant experience. Yes I have read some of the comments that other parents have as issues and concerns & to some extent I agree it may come accross as very Zero tolerant but to some degree the children are there to learn ALTHOUGH enjoy the time they are there as well. With that we need to be involved as parents to make a difference and voice our concerns so that the principal has an idea in which direction the schools needs to go in. I for one am really pressed for time but I am welcomed for even 15 minutes of my presence in anything I can help. I am expecting to see some positive growth moving forward as my hope is to make it a fun pleasant learing enviroment my children are at.

teachers are often moved around. attendance is a complete mess. pickup and drop off is not consistent. teacher or staff does not care enough to stay with kids who are lost and don't know what to do. Too many adults around that are not really doing anything. Kindergarten is not well structured. This school is the first that I've seen for being so unorganized.

My kids are very happy at Quentin. I have read the comments on this site and I want to contribute to the positive remarks. The administrators are very friendly and quick to help parents. They have the best office staf who are always friendly and smiling. Yes they have improved in many areas since the school opened. There is a lot of communication that goes home including phone messages with reminders. They have sports that my kids participate in. I am very happy with my students attending Quentin and hope that everyone has the same experience that my family is having.

Quentin is rate as NON-PERFORMING High teacher turnover I think the other schools in the district all made it past this label according to the paper.

I want to comment on the review in April regarding the principal I am a former teacher and know first hand that the comment about communciation is not true. This principal is dedicated and well liked by her staff. An insider would really know the truth.
