California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

Stockdale does not offer students the education that they deserve. I would not recommend this school to students who wish to pursue an advanced education or a child who struggles academically as the staff and administration show no interest in the students' abilities or potential. The teachers at this school do not show any concern for their students' progress and refuse to help those who require extra help. Additionally they are no help to their advanced students either. The teachers simply do not teach leaving the average and remedial students behind and causing the advanced students to have no choice but to seek outside help from academic tutors in order to stay ahead. Unless you are going to pay thousands of dollars in tutoring fees your child will not succeed here. The staff will not help you prepare for AP tests or the SATs. I agree with the previous review; the administration is quite snobbish and refuses to take blame for the many things wrong with this school.

Principal should work to improve the snobby attitudes of staff and many students at Stockdale. It's a shame that so many good kids go into this school enthusiastic and end up either pretentious or alienated. My husband and I are both PhDs and we're rather disappointed with the campus climate. Unfortunately I must agree with the reviewer that said "you must be rich to fit in"...students in this district deserve better!

just bad. too many cliques!! The teaching methods are just plain weird. must be rich to fit in.

Both my Kids graduated form this school and have a very strong base.

Stockdale High is a good school. My draw back is that the kids focus a lot on clothes and who has what. One of my kids went to stockdale and the other went to Highland. It seems to me that the kids at Highland were much nicer. The kids at stockdale were very clicky. It was hard for my one daughter to make friends. The staff at the school were great and the vice principal was very helpful when I was trying to get my one daughter transferred to Highland he went out of his way to help us and make calls for us.If you can handle rich attitude of the kids there then stockdale is a great school my one daughter needed to be transferred she had a hard time with us being a more middle class and its a very upper class school.

The academics of Stockdale High are very prestigious and it is a very safe and good school to go to. Although it is very cliquey academically it is excellent. Your child probably won't like it if they have had problems fitting into groups in the past.

I am impressed with Stockdale High. The teachers and administration are available and friendly. Whenever I've needed to ask a question regarding academics or my student's involvement they always return emails within 24 hours. Academically Stockdale rates at the top. I don't know how they do it but they are able to make a large school feel like an intimate small school setting. I purchased my home in the Stockdale area so my children could attend there. It was one of my best choices I have ever made.

We have been very pleased with Stockdale. Our daughter graduated from Stockdale in 2004 and has done very well in college. Our two sons are in their freshman and sophomore years and have had a great experience so far. The academics are strong and the afterschool programs such as sports drama debate etc. are equally strong.

This school believes in the students! I have two children who have/are attending/ed Stockdale High. 2004 4.0/Scholar Athlete who graduated with honors and a freshman female who is not as great scholastically but loves her school! Stockdale High school takes an active interest in its students. The entire staff/faculty are interested in meeting every childs needs and helping them excel to thier greatest potential. The Principal attends nearly every activity getting to know the kids.

As a student at SHS I can honestly say this is one of the best all around schools. Questions are raised to the teaching methods but I assure you students would have it no other way. Teachers integrate book choices computer programs and philosophical discussion's into everyday class. The extra activities and sports include debate over 30 clubs swimming and diving soccer football track volleyball golf and much much more. Facilities at the school are fantastic and SHS is home to many 'Valley Champions' and many state competitors. This school has it all. Our principal makes the year bareable and our teachers make the school year fun. Stockdale has excellent security and I never feel threatened or in harms way. There is no school that even comes close in academics sports fun staff and security to Stockdale High School.

I was a student at Stockdale I enjoyed it very much. Not only did I have fun while there but I started the stepping stones to my career with the Career Path program. The teachers can be unorthidox but it is well worth it in the end

My daughter is currently a sophomore at Stockdale. I view the staff (that I've had contact with to date) as dedicated to high standards for our children they have an awesome responsibility of teaching in a system that contradicts education with their illogical mandates that we all must adhere to because of a few.

My son just started high school in bakersfield. His academic skills have impoved very much while attending Stockdale. His grades improved his GPA and now is passing all of his classes. The staff at this school also make a point to make sure that the parents are involved in the child's learning process and keep in up to date with his performace over all. This school is doing a great job!

Stockdale's Principal Randy Greuber is an exceptional man who gives special attention to every student and establishes a personal relationship with parents. The school excels in many extracirricular activities giving students a chance to try out any activity they have an interest in. The teachers were very personable and prepared my children for life in the real world.

My daughter's first year seemed very progressive in her preparation for college coursed prep classes I feel it to be a very good public learning facility

The teachers at Stockdale High Schoolhave no disciplinary skills whatsoever. My son tells me that the kids in his classroom are allowed to do whatever they want to do. Other than the fact of the lack of teaching skills the school is satisfactory.
