Reading other reviews blows my mind!! I myself am a Berlin graduate and have 4 children who attend Berlin now whom ALL are doing good. My son has needed and received lots of help due to epilepsy. I am proud of him and the teachers for taking their time getting him where he is today. You wouldn't believe the amount of people/teachers who are willing to help one student...AMAZING! He is in 5th grade doing 7th and above grade level work. HUGE improvement. What parents don't realize is that it is ALSO the responsibility for them to help their own children. Teachers do what they can and personally knowing many teachers in the district they teach not only with knowledge but also with passion. Yes we do not have the best budget in the world but who does these days. I love this school and the teachers and think they are doing GREAT jobs. These teachers need to start being acknowledged for what they do and appreciated! All schools have issues and this rating is based on the teaching level which in turn makes a great school. On another note Berlin District could def use more parent/community involvement (choice by parent not schools prob). - Kristy Lemiska

I listen to parents complain about a great school saying their children are doing bad and it is the teachers fault or the school system. There is no community envolvement etc. In my opinion being an alumni and current parent is the envolvment of the parents. There is none nobody is taking responsibility for their own children and are leaving it up to the teachers. Compared to other schools Berlin has a wonderful selection of teachers who care about the children take each student personaly and proffessionaly in their own way. You wont find teachers who care about their students in a school with a bunch of money or huge athletic teams. A successful school comes from everyone working together including the parents. Maybe we should all stop our busy lives and take more possesion of our childrens lives.

The district is large in area covered but small in terms of enrollment. The issue is that the information given depends on the personal agenda of the person giving the information. I read reviews that state bus rides are long the simple fact is that the district is 169 square miles and although some rides are long I remember being informed through data that the average ride time is 35 - 45 minutes each way..a little different than picking out the extreme and posting it for your personal purpose of slamming a very good rural school. It is sad that instead of working so hard to distroy the district's reputation that we are not willing to work equally as hard to build it up and be honest with our information.

Berlin is a horrible school. I go there and it's horrible. Avoid putting your kids in that school district because the teachers give you a ton of hw even in sixth grade the educational value is low and you don't have a very good time there at all. You'd be better off with a school that has a higher budget!!

I used to go to Berlin. And I have definitely seen schools where the teachers don't have to get paid to stay after so the kids can get extra help. And they had me in special education classes that I did not need to be in. I don't have many god things to say about the school and neither does my mother. I am now a senior in high school in a different school. My Class average has gone up a lot since I left that school. I hope things have changed so other kids can have a better opportunity.

This district is lacking in solid leadership there have been several changes in Superintendants in the last 4 years as well as principals. Because of this there have been a numbers of issues that have developed for instance mid term last year they adopted a new class schedule that left many middle/high students with multiple study halls/day and half completed class for the year. This is a huge geographic district and some children are on the bus for 1.75hr in one direction. The ex. curr. programs are also underfunded.

For the most part this school is a positive atmosphere for our children but there is some changes that could be taken to increase the happiness of our loved ones. I think the athletic program could be increased in it's intensity and there should be more structured work outs and there is a undenying neccisaty for a work out room for our athletes. We could also open this space up to our community which brings me to my next point. There is no community involvement in our school system. This is a huge problem how are our kids supposed to feel important when there community dosn't care.

I dont think that Berlin School is all that great. All of my childrens grades are very low. They pay attention and study their little bums off all the time and dont seem to succeed in this school! Also you need to clean up your Gym! That gym is infested with hundreds of dead and alive flies. The floors are completely covered with them. Personally I think that is utterly disgusting and repulsively embarrassing! I want my children to succeed and be very intelligent but im afraid succession will not happen in Berlin Central high School!

I think the Berlin Junior/Senior High as well as Stephentown Elementary are first rate schools. They are small and the teachers and staff really know your child. They truly want each child to suceed and with a little pushing are willing to go the extra distance to ensure that success. Both my daughters attend Berlin and though each is very different with different strengths and weaknesses they are each receiving an excellent education tailored to their specific needs. One problem is that since Mr. Bedford left two years ago they have not had effective compatible principal leadership. There is a new principal this year and I hope this problem will see a solution. In contrast Stephentown Elementary is lucky to benefit from the best principal I have ever observed-Ms. Bergman.
