I love howard middle. My son was in 6th grade. He was in the gifted class. He was also in the academic team. I have no complains. It is a great School.I regret moving to Atlanta. The schools are horrible.

Howard Middle school Macon My daughter goes to this school. The staff has been nothing shoprt of supportive during the adoption process of my child. She comes home from school excited and ready to tackle homework. She even gets up early to get ready for school. I would recommend this school to anyone that needs a middle school.
Our family has been extremely please with the programs and opportunities at Howard Middle School. There are problems in the administration that needs to be dealt with. I think as soon as those are resolved then things will improve beyond our imaginations.
i have to get my son out of there by all means. so frustrated. checking out private schools.
Pretty bricks & mortar mask the ugliness inside this school. Though I have been impressed with the teachers the majority of students here are not reflective of the citizens in this area. Where did these people come from? Looks like an inner city school in the pretty countryside. So many families send their children to private schools here I suppose the county filled the remaining seats with leftovers from other schools. Maybe 5-10% parental involvement. Can't wait to move!
Howard Middle School is becoming one of Bibb counties worst schools. My child went there for a few days and she cried everyday when she got home. I asked my daughter why didnt she like it and she said in her exact word "Momma they are just so ghetto." She felt like she would have to become a trouble maker to make friends. The kids lack discipline and respect and the teachers dont earn the respect. They allow the kids to act how they want. The kids curse out the teachers and no one takes any disciplinary actions. This is a poor excuse of what our tax paying dollars are used for. Maybe these schools should start focusing on education and behavior rather than dress code.
I didn't like this school at all. I went to Howard Middle School for 6th 7th and 8th grade and it was awful. It made my life suck. It broke my heart and i felt like there was a magical force field that took away all of my happiness. The principle is to nice and a push over but worried more about our hair styles and clothes and if you want to survive as a student in this school then you better be in gifted classes. The gifted students never get into trouble no matter what they did or do. They could bully and not get in trouble at all. There were also plenty of un-smart students in these classes. If you want your child to live a successful and happy I REPEAT HAPPY life then DON'T send them to Howard Middle School.
My child goes to Howard Middle School and all I am going to say is the teachers are not good teachers. And the staff total is not committed to keeping your child safe.......
This is my first year attending Howard Middle School. I come from a very different school in another state. I am in eight grade and absolutely hate the school. My previous school had excellent teachers and challenging work much unlike Howard. I was put in the gifted program here and it still was not challenging (the teachers weren't much better either). The students have no respect for the teachers and the teachers don't discipline them for their horrifying behavior. I have been to many different schools and this is by far the worst. If you are a parent who's looking to move to this area I suggest you save enough money to send your child to private school or be ready to home-school them because they will most likely be just as dissatisfied as I am. If this is one the better schools in Bibb County it doesn't say much.
I know longer attend Howard Middle School. I went in my 6th grade year and hated it. I was in the gifted program too! I now go to a private school here in Macon and love it! Parents do not send your child to HMS! The principal is horrible and so is the discipline!
I go to Howard Middle I am in 8th Grade and the teachers are very great. This scTool has a very good 8th Grade Math teacher named Ms. Wilcher. She is the best Math teacher I ever had. She teaches verywell. There are some other good teachers like Ms. Peacock and Ms. Massaro but some students aren't very good. Some of them will be mean to you if its your first year.
Now that the old principal is gone the school is more of a school instead of a jail and problems are addressed more professionally. The new principal Dr. Carlisle is an excellent leader and handles issues promptly and effectively. Now if they could just get rid of the clueless assist. principal and hire more educated teachers who would rather be mentors and teachers than facebook friends with the students.
I attended Howard Middle School during my 7th and 8th grade years. Because I am from foreign country I can see that Howard Middle School cannot be better than my former school in my native country. Of course there are some GREAT teachers like Mrs. Griffin and Mr. Adoms. However HMS should be improved like other schools in Atlanta such as Northview or Walton. HMS is the first American school to me so I want this school to be the best middle school in the nation.
As a former student at Howard Middle School and current student at Howard High it has been amazing to see the school evolve over the years! The teachers are wonderful and my fellow peers are good students to be around unlike some other's in the area. The activities outside of the classroom from show choir and cheerleading to football and Math team there is something for everyone at this school. * To families who do not attend Howard Middle or High do not listen to any 'rumors' that tend to cirrculate. You never really know what happens at schools you don't attend so please do not base opinions off of them.
I am a student at Howard Middle School. I am in the Gifted program which is great. I believe that this school is wonderful especially compared to what my friends at the other Bibb County Public Middle Schools say about theirs. We have many opportunities. While having some bad (not the best) of teachers I think we have some of the best in Georgia. I have to recognize Mrs. Goins & Mrs. Davis. They teach very well and thoroughly. The school is very strict in declipline and has fun activities and extra curriculum groups to join. Overall Howard is a great new school. )
I don't think this school is so great. It needs to improve in many areas.
I think that like all schools HMS can improve in some areas. If we can raise student/teacher morale then I believe other positive results will follow in all categories.
I think Howard Middle should spend more time thinking of ways to improve there special education program and their relationship with lower income parents. My overall review is that the some of the teaching staff needs to take some race relations classes to learn how to relate to all differnent ethinc and econimc backgrounds.
I think that Howard Middle School is a great school and I really love it. It has aslo improved my academic level.
