Interesting news item from the Orlando Sentinel this week, about the true meaning of “waterfront property.” It seems developers in this land-locked region of central Florida are developing manmade lakes as fast as homes, and charging “waterfront” prices. A quick Zillow scan around Orlando shows some neighborhoods with lakes on every street.
This seems to be the trend across the globe. If it isnt there lets create it and then charge exorbitant prices for it, Dubai as a country has got this off to a tee!!
People do seem to be willing to pay for manmade waterfront real estate, has an element of the “Truman Show” about it!
Here at Country Club of Mount Dora, about 25 miles NW of Orlando, in Lake County, Florida, we have a ton of actual lakes including the Harris Chain of Lakes and the Clermont Chain of Lakes; both of which can be navigated from lake to lake. Yes, many golf community developments like ours have many retention ponds which are referred to as waterfront. All of our ponds are stocked with fish for resident’s leisure activity.
