San Diego’s Wellsford Realty Offers Incentive for Gay Couples

San Diego real estate company Wellsford Realty is offering an unusual incentive for gay couples in California or those who might venture to California to take advantage of the recently passed same-sex marriage law: If you buy a home (primary or vacation home) in the San Diego area through Wellsford Realty, you will get your wedding reception or honeymoon paid for by the realty company. Now that is creativity!

“It’s more than showing appreciation for our customers,” Michelle Koert of Wellsford Realty said of their Pride Promotion. “It is understanding that domestic partners married under the new Same Sex Marriage Law want all of the securities and happiness that investment in a home has to offer a couple.” “We encourage same sex couples from out of the area to purchase their vacation home in San Diego.”

And yes, this same promotion applies to heterosexual couples, too.

Good Morning Diane,

All of our agents work from their homes as we have a virtual office setup. This is partially responsible in enabling us to pass on the commission savings to our sellers and cash rebates to our buyers. That said, I can provide you our office address for Zillow’s directory purposes. However, if you are looking to provide an address for potential clients to come in and talk to a Houserebate agent, that wouldn’t suffice as all the agents work from their home offices.

Please feel free to provide them with my e-mail address and I can certainly provide contact information of agents wherever your clients are looking to buy.

In the meantime, I’ll take a look at your blog.

2nd Update on Wellsford Realty: Just got a call from a woman named April. She confirmed that is their address and they do have agents working out of that office. They are affiliated with houserebate.com: one is the traditional real estate model and houserebate is virtual. Their phone number is 858-812-7875

I am an agent that works for Wellsford Realty and Houserebate.com; both are full service Real Estate companies. In regards to questions about a virtual office and agent working from there home: it is very rare you will see an agent with any company working out of an office when in todas society and with the technology available to us there is no need. In the Real Estate market “time is of the essence” and if an agent is at home and needs to get a file or service a client immediately, having to drive to your office is not efficient in any manor. In regards to Rebates and “Pride Promotion”, in an industry that is very emotional in many levels. Dealing with the excitement of a new home, the financial resposibility one is about to take on, and the entire process from locating a home all the way through the move in process why not work with a professional who is vastly experienced that is willing to give something back? Giving back is a great incentive not only with personal relationship but in business as well; I try to not seperate the two but to bring them together.

Absolutely awesome idea! I’m actually a lesbian and I happen to be an agent as well and I’m always thinking of new “promotions” but this one they thought of is HUGE.

I sure wish my state of PA had as much sense as Cali does…if it did I could possibly talk my broker into such a deal too!
