Michael Jordan comes down to earth and pays $281,000 for home

Wow — he’s just like one of us. In one of the oddest real estate purchases by a celebrity, former NBA superstar Michael Jordan bought a home for $281,000 with Cuban model/girlfriend Yvette Prieto in a modest neighborhood of Miami, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Jordan, considered perhaps the greatest basketball player ever — has been rumored to be close to marriage to Prieto.

The Palm Beach Post’s Page2 Live calls it “Housing stimulus: Air Jordan Buys Humble Abode” and ventures a guess as to why an extremely wealthy Jordan and Prieto took out a 30-year, $196,000-mortgage together: Because Prieto has had plenty of financial problems and filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2002.

When Jordan’s not buying non-descript homes in Miami, he’s part owner and managing member of basketball operations with the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats.
