Pro golfer Fred Couples found that his expansive gated estate located at 1144 E Mountain Dr, Santa Barbara, CA 93108 in the Montecito foothills had everything — 5.28 lush acres with ocean views, a spacious main house with 5 bedroom suites, a spectacular 3-bed guest house, art studio, nine-car garage, a tennis court, pool, spa, brick courtyard, pergolas, rose gardens, expansive lawns, and it even had a putting green, naturally. But, there was one thing missing — it was not close enough to a golf course. According to the LA Times, “Couples has relocated to the desert, near good golfing.” Couples’ Montecito estate is for sale for $12.5 million and is listed by Dan Encell of Prudential California Realty.
The Colonial-style estate was built in 1939 and designed by renowned Santa Barbara-area architects Edwards and Plunkett.
