Many of us have had money pits — a home that just keeps sucking in more and more dollars for needed repairs or restorations. Rapper 50 Cent faced the same problem.
50 Cent — whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III — purchased a Farmington, CT mansion from Monica Turner, the ex-wife of former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in 2003, paying $4.1 million. While 50 Cent was considering the purchase, he hired engineering firm BVH Integrated Services from Bloomfield, Conn., to inspect the mansion and estimate the cost of repairs. The firm’s estimate was $500,000, but 50 Cent invested nearly $6 million into the property — including $3 million for maintenance repairs and the rest on betterments and improvements,” according to Huffington Post. As a result, 50 Cent is now suing BVH, claiming the firm should pay the $3 million he spent for repairs.
According to the NY Daily News:
The 19-bedroom property – which was featured on MTV’s “Cribs” – includes a recording studio and a nightclub that features a swing dangling from the ceiling.
When the 48,000-square-foot property was up for sale in 2007, brokers said the rapper had added a helicopter pad, an infinity pool and spa with a grotto, a movie theater, and other extras.
No one bought it, and it’s no longer for sale.
