Twitter Co-Founder Biz Stone Selling His Berkeley Home for $575,000

Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter, made use of his own technology on Monday when he Tweeted about his for sale home in Berkeley, CA to nearly 1 million of his Twitter followers. “We loved our Wurster cottage in Berkeley but it’s time to move—if you’re into architecture, check it out.” The tech veteran purchased his home, located at 1409 Greenwood Terrace, Berkeley, CA 94708 in January 2006 for $550,000. William Wurster, for those who do not recognize the name, is described as one of California’s most influential architects who used a style called “soft modernism.”

While the blogosphere was hot Monday with the news of the high-profile listing, Stone has actually been testing the waters of the Berkeley real estate market for awhile. According to Stone’s real estate agent, Melody Hultgren of Urban Bay Properties, Stone had a  Make Me Move price of $650,000 on his property for a couple of years. (Make Me Move is a free and easy way to tell others the price you’d be willing to sell your home for, without actually putting it on the market. It’s that magical number you just can’t refuse.)

The 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom home is a cozy 800 square feet, nestled up in the Berkeley Hills and a short five-minute walk down to the much-loved Gourmet Ghetto bakery (WalkScore of 57). Stone’s decision to sell could have a lot to do with a frustrating commute, which is only 10 miles from house to Twitter office, but it can take up to an hour and 10 minutes a day, each way, according to Silicon Alley Insider.
