Data Junkies, Get Your Mice Ready!

We just rolled out a total overhaul to our Real Estate Market Reports and Home Value pages. We now have coverage at the national, state, metro, county, city, neighborhood and ZIP code levels, complete with interactive graphics and the ability to look up home stats by number of bedrooms.

So far, we’ve published 17 different real estate market statistics including the Zillow Home Value Index, listing/sold stats, foreclosure percentages and more. In the next few weeks, we’ll release statistics on down payment and listing price cuts. There are even a few more stats in the hopper coming in the next month or so, so keep checking back.

One of my favorite features: comparison charts. It’s now easy to compare different regions. Just check the regions you want to compare and we’ll show you the difference. At the neighborhood level, this is great for home buyers. At the higher levels, it’s just plain fun to play with. Here’s an example: median sale prices in four California cities:

We’ve been publishing some of this data at the national and metro level in our quarterly market reports. Now we’ll be updating these numbers twice a month. This will let you get the latest more often. You can even download the data into Excel for more data exploration.

Have fun!
