Flatiron Penthouse Used in Gordon Gekko Movie Sequel
Let’s face it: Sometimes the house steals a scene or even a movie. Remember the gorgeous home in the Hamptons owned by Diane Keaton‘s character in “Something’s Gotta Give?”
Well, here’s another home that will soon make real estate lovers swoon: it’s a New York City penthouse apartment in the Flatiron district used in the upcoming Wall Street sequel “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” (planned for September 2010 release) and it belongs to Gordon Gekko’s daughter’s fiance, “Jake Moore,” (played by Shia LaBeouf).
According to the NY Times, “Wall Street” director Oliver Stone “… fell in love with the apartment the minute he saw it: its floating staircase, terraces and “a killer, dead-on view of the Empire State Building.” Another plus was the loft, which defines LaBeouf’s character as a “… young, hip up-and-coming master of the universe..”
So, what’s so attractive about this Flatiron penthouse? It has 6,250 sq ft of living space (4 beds, 4 baths), and a generous 3,500 sq ft of outdoor space. The staircase goes to a second floor that was added after the owner purchased it in 2003 for $1.4 million. Although the penthouse was on the market for parts of 2008 and 2009 for $16.5 million, it was then lowered to $14.5M and $13.7M, respectively; it never sold. The owner — who, ironically, is in finance — is planning on listing it again for somewhere between $12 and $14 million.
