Website to Help With Stephen Baldwin’s Finances, Mortgage Woes

Actor Stephen Baldwin’s foreclosed home in Nyack, NY was headed for auction last year, but it was postponed at the last minute. A month later, Baldwin filed for Chapter 11 protection. According to E! Online, the Stephen and wife Kennya have leveraged heavily against their home:

Apparently the Baldwins’ Upper Grandview home is worth $1.1 million, but they owe the bank $1.19 million and have outstanding debts of $890,000 to the IRS, $194,527 in unpaid state income tax and more than $70,000 to the credit-card companies.

Chapter 11 will buy Baldwin time to sort out his financial difficulties and while it appears he still owns his Nyack home (and another in New York City), there are some supporters coming to his rescue using a strategy of “token gifting.” What is token gifting? According to the website, “The Restoration of Stephen Baldwin,” it was used in the restoration of Job and is now being used to “publicly restore” Stephen Baldwin, who is a born-again Christian.  Baldwin’s pastor, Daniel Southern, and other religious supporters have taken it  upon themselves to help Baldwin by setting up this privately funded website, asking for contributions.

According to this video, “… if the people of God come together and each give a small token gift, we can see a massive restoration of a Christian public figure and all the glory will go to God…”

How did Baldwin get into such a financial mess? The restorestephenbaldwin.com site claims Baldwin’s income level dropped by 70 percent when he refused roles with gratuitous sex and violence.
