Author Anne Rice’s Rancho Mirage Home Listed for $3,300,000
Best-selling author Anne Rice has listed her Rancho Mirage, CA home for $3.3 million.
Rice, who hails from New Orleans, draws from that city’s voodoo and religious influences to create best-selling novels in the erotic/gothic genre — most notably The Vampire Chronicles.
According to Zillow’s price history chart, Rice purchased the home in 2005 for $3.6 million, so she is already starting off with a $300,000 loss, or 8.3 percent. The home is set on one acre and is in the Thunderbird Heights section of Rancho Mirage, near the Thunderbird Country Club. As the home’s description states,
The present owner – a best selling author – writes in the multi-room master wing. The elegant living room and formal dining room are an entertainer’s dream. Treat your guests in the separate 2 bedroom casita with full kitchen and living room.
The writer had plenty of room to roam in a nearly 9,000 sq ft home that included a master wing where Rice reportedly wrote the novel “Christ the Lord: The Road to Cana” and the thriller “Angel Time.” Throughout the interior columned-home are tray- and cylindrical-ceilings and a generous amount of light. Rice plans to move to smaller writer’s retreat in the Coachella Valley.
