Sold! Alan Jackson’s Tennessee Mansion Sells for $28 Million

The market for high-end homes seems to plugging along — albeit at a loss — as the Tennessee mansion of country music star Alan Jackson just sold for $28 million — $10 million less than the original asking price, according to theboot.com. The sale should give Tennessee neighbor Sheryl Crow some hope after Crow recently listed her home for $7.5 million.

The buyer of Jackson’s home is Willis Johnson, a multi-millionaire who founded Copart, which started as an auto salvage company and now offers other online automotive needs.

As we reported last August, Jackson listed his home for $38 million. Known as “Sweetbriar,” it sits on 135 acres and has six bedrooms, seven baths, five fireplaces, a 20-car garage and a gymnasium. The property also includes a stocked lake with a boat house, three ponds, a 20-car garage, separate gym, and a two-bedroom log cabin.

That is incredible! I remember watching the show on CMT where he was having trees and different plants brought in by helicopter from over seas!

$10 million has got to hurt, especially with all the work he put into this home. This is not the economy for such extravagant purchases so he would have had a hard time selling it close to what he bought it for.

I’m sure he didn’t lose any money on the sale…It was originally listed for $38M…He got $28M for it…just got $10M less than he was asking. I’m sure he wouldn’t have sold it at a loss!!! He’s owned the place since 1993…so I’m sure he made heaps on it!!! Here’s his reason for selling:
Alan and Denise had a good reason to put their home up for sale last year. “Since our daughters are getting older, we’re kind of looking ahead the next five or six years where we’re going to end up,” the superstar says. “We’re just planning ahead, and that’s a really big place out there, and we’re thinking we may not spend as much time in Nashville once the children are gone. We love it out there, but it’s a big handful of property. The girls have all grown up there and it’s been a wonderful place. I’ve owned it for 17 years, and they’ve all grown up there and had a lot of memories there. It’s served its purpose.”

How many records did Alan Jackson sell to even be able to afford the utilities and taxes on that house? I can’t believe somebody paid 28 million dollars for 135 acres…in Tennessee…I am definitely in the wrong business. I hope the new guy was at least smart enough to pay cash.

6 bedrooms and a 20 car garage sounds like the exact home i would have if i could afford it. And regarding the 10 million dollar loss.. i don’t think Alan Jackson is too worried about it.
