Mint.com and Zillow.com Partner on Real Estate Valuations

The Zillow values in my area are so far off it would be laughable if it wasn’t so harmful to people’s mindsets. I’ve seen Zillow estimates that were ridiculously higher than the market, e.g., $2mil estimates on $1.25mil homes.

I really don’t see any value in Zillow estimates at all. They just mess with seller’s minds when selling. Buyers and sellers often give too much weight to Zillow, whether high or low.
I think all it does is create confusion. There is no way that a value for a house can be given without seeing the condition, especially inside.

Something is wrong with, the map view and website in general. When I move the mouse over the page it disappears! I am using Firefox on mac.

Rachel from Zillow here. Go to zillow and find the property you are inquiring about. Click on the address hyperlink to get to the home details page. This page is where all the home information is. From there, look for the ALERTS section next to the bell icon. Hover your mouse over ALERTS and click on Get price/status updates. Hit submit and you will be notified when this home comes on the market.

I do use mint.com and see that Zillow has assigned a value yet it says it was more than a month before updating the value??? How often does it update the value and will it change the status to current??? Just wondering???

my home in port charlotte fl., has consistently decreased in “zillow” value for the past year. It is somewhat ludicrous to think that zillow will have an accurate measure of millions of homes in this country. What is true is that their values affect rentals, and sales. Who knows what values are now. Ultimately, it’s what someone will pay. If zillow is off, it affects the sale value. I’m not satisfied that their estimate of my home is accurate.

zillow reported my house sold 12/10 for 62,000. It has not sold and, in fact, i still owe more than that on the mortgage. I think they have it mixed up with an empty lot that recently sold in my community. I did the email thing twice and no one contacts me and nothing is corrected. the only reply I got was a new zestimate. this is getting very embarrassing for me – the neighbors brought it to my attention and think its true and now just about every day a different neighbor has been asking about it saying I’ll lower property values. Property is 13331 Lago Vista Dr, Winter Garden, Fl 34787. Can you get this corrected?
