Top 5 Milwaukee Neighborhoods to Trick-or-Treat in 2010

1. Cooper Park
2. Upper East Side
3. Murray Hill
4. Cambridge Heights
5. Kops Park

Methodology

There is a common belief that wealthy neighborhoods are the Holy Grail for harvesting the most Halloween candy. However, to provide a more holistic approach to trick-or-treating, the Zillow Trick-or-Treat Housing Index was calculated using four equally weighted data variables: Zillow Home Value Index, population density, Walk Score and local crime data from Relocation Essentials. Based on those variables, the Index represents neighborhoods that will provide the most candy, with the least walking and safety risks.

About Milwaukee’s Top Trick-or-Treating Neighborhoods

At the top of our list is little Cooper Park, sandwiched between Mount Mary College and the town of Wauwatosa. The small, tight-knit neighborhood ranked extremely low on crime and high on density, making it a safe place to hit lots of homes in a short period of time.

Next on the list is the Upper East Side. With high home values (it has the second-highest Zillow Home Value Index in the city), the Upper East Side will be a great place to score some high-quality candy.

Third and fourth are Murray Hill and Cambridge Heights, two north-of-downtown neighborhoods near the University of Wisconsin. Both scored high with walkability and home values.

Heading back west, Kops Park, Cooper Park’s neighbor just to the north, took the fifth spot. With extremely low crime and a good WalkScore, those who live in western Milwaukee could conceivable hit both the number one and five neighborhoods on Oct. 31.
