In football lingo, the final play call of the Aikman marriage is “split wide, go left and don’t look back” as former star Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman confirmed that he and his wife, Rhonda, have separated after 10 years of marriage.
According to Second Shelters Blog, Rhonda bought a place on Mimosa Lane while Troy is keeping the Highland Park home — for now.
Rhonda’s 5,207 sq ft Mediterranean-style home on Mimosa Lane in North Dallas was listed for sale last September for $1,650,000 and it appears she closed on it in November. It has 5 beds and 6 baths. Here is the home’s description:
Beautiful Mediterranean home with graceful arches and textures of stone and stucco. Walk into a breathtaking California courtyard before entering thru Cantura wrought iron doors that open to a stone floored entry with a swooping stairway. Open living-kitchen area with high ceilings overlooks pool area. Paneled study with see through fireplace. Master suite down. Hand scraped floors thruout, media room, exercise room, steam room, game room.
The couple have two daughters together and Rhonda has a child from a previous marriage. Just a week before the Aikman divorce announcement, D Magazine published an in-depth article on Troy Aikman, “Anatomy of a Super Hero,” which failed to reveal a hint of discord within the marriage, but it did lay out the weight Aikman carries of being the Cowboys’ immortal quarterback. Aikman is now a sports analyst on FOX News and will be part of the broadcast team for Super Bowl XLV when the Green Bay Packers face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Feb. 6. Aikman won’t have to travel far for the game, though — it will be held at Cowboys Stadium.
