Elvis and Priscilla’s Beverly Hills Home for Rent: $25,000/Month
Yes, Elvis Presley‘s most well-known home was Graceland, his prolific mansion in Memphis, TN that became a shrine for the hundreds of thousands of Elvis followers who visit each year. But, Elvis owned many other homes in his lifetime, including one in Beverly Hills, CA that you can live in, if you wanted — for the right price.
For $25,000 a month, you can rent Elvis and Priscilla’s former home at 1174 N Hillcrest Rd, Beverly Hills, CA. Sound good?
Granted, all of Beverly Hills real estate is pricey and exclusive, but Elvis’ home in Trousdale Estates is even more so. Not only because Elvis lived there, but because the 410 acres of Trousdale (“Life above it all“) was originally part of the sprawling Greystone Mansion property. Developer Paul Trousdale oversaw the development of Trousdale, which has an abundance of architecturally significant single-family homes designed by many famous designers such as Wallace Neff, Paul R. Williams, A. Quincy Jones, Lloyd Wright and Harold Levitt. Coupled with a prime location, it became a magnet for celebrities. Elvis shared a cul de sac with comedian Danny Thomas. Other, more current celebrities who now live in Trousdale include actress Jennifer Aniston and film producer Jeffrey Katzenberg.
Elvis purchased his Trousdale home in 1967 for $400,000. It was the same year that Elvis married Priscilla and a year later, Lisa Marie was born. The Presley home is a French Regency style home set on a 1.18-acre promontory with panoramic city and ocean views. It is private and gated (with lots of messages scribbled on the gates to Elvis) and was recently remodeled. Elvis reportedly came out of the home and talked with his fans on the other side of the gates (see photo of Elvis at the gates, courtesy Elvis Presley Music). And yup, those are the same, curved, wrought-iron gates that still exist at the home (see photos below).
The listing description states the home has:
“…fresh paint and flooring, gorgeous brand new kitchen with professional appliances, new laundry room, upgraded electrical, and resurfaced pool and spa. Spacious public rooms including a formal living room with fireplace, dining room, family room, office, and media room. Private master suite with large master bath and tremendous closet space. Floor-to-ceiling windows and walls of glass in every room frame the shimmering vistas, welcome light and warmth, and allow for the ultimate California indoor/outdoor lifestyle. Attached guesthouse with bath, large motorcourt, and 4-car carport.
The Presleys separated on February 23, 1972. Elvis stayed in this home and Priscilla and Lisa Marie moved to 144 Monovale in Beverly Hills until Priscilla purchased her own home on Summit Drive in Beverly Hills.
