Clay Aiken’s Durham, NC Pad is Listed for $2.7 Million
All the best celebrity magazines have it — a feature article explaining how the rich and famous are just like us. We’ve found another reason celebrities are just like us: They use Zillow to sell their homes.
And, interestingly, American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken posted his North Carolina home with a Make Me Move® price of $3.5 million in May 2010 — almost a year before he put it on the market. The listing became official recently with the price tag set at $2.7 million, $800,000 less than the singer originally set with his Make Me Move price.
According to Real Estalker, Aiken bought his piece of Durham real estate in 2005, after he sold his 6-bedroom home on 1.3 acres in the Los Angeles suburb of Chatsworth for $2,375,000. His Durham home in North Carolina is a far cry from any L.A. suburb, or even the four-bedroom condo he bought prior to his Idol fame in downtown Charlotte, NC for $67,500. Aiken is from Raleigh, NC.
Aiken’s Durham home is a 6-bedroom, 7.5-bath estate set on a private, 6.93-acre lot surrounded by trees. Despite its rural surroundings, the home is anything but “country,” including luxurious details such as a curved driveway, fountain and marble foyer. The estate also has a theater, professional kitchen, gym, four fireplaces and recreation room complete with bar area and pool table.
The back of the house is a wooded retreat, complete with pond and wooden bridge. A screened porch adds to the overall Southern charm.
