Ryan Reynolds Lists in Hollywood Hills for a Loss
When actor Ryan Reynolds was hitched to fellow A-Lister Scarlett Johansson, the two owned quite a bit of real estate — including a few places in sunny California, a pad in New York, as well as a place in New Orleans.
But, prior to the couple’s short union, Reynolds bought a single-story home in Hollywood Hills and in the celebrity-entrenched neighborhood of Outpost Estates for $1,715,000. Coincidentally, one of Reynolds’ celebrity neighbors was his future wife; Johansson owned a home in direct view of Reynolds’ place.
Reynolds has now listed his Hollywood Hills bachelor home for sale for $1,599,000, which is $116,000 less than what he bought it for in 2007.
It looks like Reynolds also has some real estate business cooking in New York City. Since he lost his New York apartment in the divorce to Johansson, he’s looking to pick up a new place, reportedly in Tribeca according to The New York Daily News.
This isn’t the first time Reynolds’ home has hit the Hollywood Hills real estate market. Previously, “The Proposal” and “Green Lantern” star tried to sell it in 2009, shortly after he and Johansson were married. The home didn’t attract any buyers, so it dropped off the market until it was recently listed, first with a sticker of $1.69 million before it was chopped $91,000 to its current asking price of $1,599,000.
The 2-bedroom, 2.5-bath home does not evoke over-the-top celebrity real estate with its basic decor and just over 1,700 square feet of living space. As the Real Estalker points out, it has likely been rented out while Reynolds was married.
Even with current low mortgage rates, Reynolds’ Hollywood hideaway doesn’t come with a cheap monthly payment. With a 20 percent down payment accompanying a 30-year-fixed loan, the home costs $6,071 a month, according to Zillow Mortgage Marketplace.
The listing is held by Annie Challis of Keller Williams Realty.
