Big Move: Chelsea Clinton & Husband Buying NYC Condo
So much for any doubt that Chelsea Clinton and her husband of three years, Marc Mezvinsky, aren’t in it for the long haul. Or, at least in it for the big-apartment-in-New-York haul.
The daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton and her financier husband have signed a contract for a marvelous 4-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom apartment in the Flatiron District of Manhattan. The 4,967-square-foot condo is in a building on East 26th Street that was built in 1924 and recently converted into only four sensational units.
Looks like the 33-year-old Clinton and her husband snagged the top-floor unit, which was listed for $10.5 million and includes access to a private elevator and keys to a resident-only gym.
Clinton and Mezvinsky had been the subject of ongoing rumors about a potential divorce, but neither of the Stanford grads said they understood why their marriage’s solidity was under such scrutiny.
After a lavish $3 million ceremony, Clinton and Mezvinsky have since been busily working; he’s an investment banker, and she, in addition to working on behalf of her father’s Clinton Global Initiative, has a contract with NBC to do pieces that “make a difference.” She is also on the board of IAC Interactive and the School of American Ballet.
While Chelsea has been wary of being in the public eye ever since her father’s first run for governor of Arkansas, she has become a little less reserved in recent years. That includes interviews last year in which she said she would like to give her mother, Hillary, the grandchildren she is dying to have, and that she would actually consider running for public office one day.
In the meantime, whatever anyone ever thought was the future of Chelsea and Marc, for now they are heading to a sumptuous new home fit for New York social class royalty.
