‘Star Trek’ Commander and ‘General Hospital’ Star Buy in Woodland Hills
Jonathan Frakes and Genie Francis’ continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before.
Well, this 2,035-square-foot remodeled ranch house has seen many owners since it was built in 1941, but Frakes and Francis are certainly seeking out a new life and civilization.
Property records indicate the star couple bought the home for $1 million earlier this month.
The gated 3-bedroom, 3-bath home is both private and quaint, surrounded by hedges and sitting on 0.6 acres in one of Woodland Hills’ most coveted neighborhoods. Fellow famous residents of the affluent district in L.A. include “Sons of Anarchy” star Ryan Hurst, who moved to the area recently.
The listing describes the home as “adjacent to one of the last standing orange groves in the San Fernando Valley.” In addition, the property includes an antique barn and a detached work or entertainment space next to the 2-car garage.
The country-style of the home suits Francis’ taste, as she previously owned a store in Maine called The Cherished Home, which carried cottage furnishings and accessories.
The couple and their two children lived in Maine for some time, where Frakes taught film direction at The Workshops, the Waterfall Arts Center and the Saltwater Film Society. He is best-known for playing Commander William T. Riker on the TV series “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and subsequent films.
Francis’ involvement with “The Young and the Restless” brought the family back to L.A. In fall 2012, Francis left “The Young and the Restless” for the role that skyrocketed her to fame — Laura Spencer on “General Hospital.”
