Pending Sale: Nicholas Brody’s House in TV Show ‘Homeland’
For those who are well versed in pop culture, it’s no surprise when a home featured on a TV show quickly finds a buyer. This Charlotte, NC home is no “Real Housewives” mansion, but fans of the award-winning Showtime series “Homeland” will recognize it as the Brody household, prominently featured in Seasons 1 and 2.
As fans gear up for the Season 3 premiere later this month, it’s easy to forget that not everyone watches television. In an interview with the Charlotte Observer, the seller of this 2, 480-square-foot home, Vicki Tetreault, said the buyers “…don’t have cable, and aren’t familiar with ‘Homeland.’” For them, it’s just a place to call home.
The last list price was $394,900; the sale is currently under contract. Tetreault reportedly said the home “fetched above the asking price” with five offers in one day. If the buyers can close the deal for under $400,000, they’ll pay less than the median Mountainbrook home value of $410,600.
Not only is the home where “Homeland” star Nicholas Brody, played by Damian Lewis, lives with his wife and two kids; it’s also where Claire Danes’ character, CIA agent Carrie Matheson, watches Brody’s every move. From placing cameras in the home to tapping phones, Matheson’s team keeps a close eye on the “turned” prisoner of war.
While the film crew has built a replica of the home’s interior in a studio and taken shots of the exterior to use in the next season, listing agent Mike Anderson of Keller Williams Realty says reminders of “Homeland” remain. A cable used to power cameras and lighting runs along the exterior of the yard, and the master bedroom has been painted twice (blue for the show and a neutral color for listing the home).
Hopefully the new owners won’t find any cameras hidden in the walls.
