Heidi Klum Buys Home in Bel-Air
When it comes to real estate, some celebrities go for modern, sleek design, while others lean toward mid-century. Model, actress and producer Heidi Klum prefers a more formal, brick-and-stone look.
Klum recently bought a home in Bel-Air’s guard-gated Stone Ridge neighborhood, and like the Brentwood home she and ex-husband Seal bought in 2011, her new place boasts a long, curving driveway, an entrance framed by white pillars and formal living spaces.
The Real Estalker blog calls Klum’s purchase a “downsize” from her previous digs, but with more than 11,000 square feet of living space on a 4-acre lot, Klum’s new home is still quite substantial.
Klum bought the Georgian-style home from Emmy-winning writer/producer Ed Weinberger, best known for his work on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” “The Cosby Show” and “Taxi.” Weinberger custom-built the sprawling residence in 2000 with his ex-wife, Carlene Watkins. The pair first listed the home in 2010 for $15 million; Klum picked up the estate for $9.875 million, according to property records.
Klum’s home is at the end of a private driveway with no houses directly behind or beside the residence. City skyline views are present throughout the property, especially from the lush back lawn and pool area.
The home’s front entrance opens up to a two-story foyer with a curving staircase. The house includes grand living spaces, a country kitchen and “lavish” master suite, as well as a third-floor gym/dance studio.
Best known for her modeling work with Victoria’s Secret, the German-born Klum currently produces and stars in the long-running reality show “Project Runway.”
