Amazing Island Homes

I guess the owners of these homes really mean it when they say they want to get away from it all! We thought you’d get a kick out of these amazing homes perched on super-small islands, dubbed “5 Insanely Small and Inhabited Private Islands,” by PremierDestinations.com, a British company that specializes in luxury villa and apartment rentals.

Appropriately named “Clingstone,” this historic mansion in Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay (bordered by Newport) sat empty for decades but has since been restored. The home has an interesting past, too, as detailed in this New York Times profile.

The name of this island? “Just Room Enough.” Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. This home is located in the Thousand Lakes Region of New York (near Jefferson) and Ontario, Canada.

Looking rather like a cross between a lighthouse and a — well, I don’t know quite what else — this house sits atop a tiny isle in the Les Cheneaux Islands, near Cedarville, Michigan.
