The foreclosed Wilmette, IL, home of political insider Tony Rezko, who is awaiting sentencing on corruption charges, was to be auctioned off today, but it has been delayed until Aug. 17, according to Chicago Breaking News.
If the Rezko name doesn’t ring a bell, he’s the onetime top campaign fund-raiser for then-Sen. Barack Obama and former Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
Obama’s Chicago house attracted a great deal of controversy during Obama’s presidential campaign due to a suspicious real estate transaction between Rezko and Obama.
Rezko’s home at 1302 Chestnut Ave, Wilmette, IL 60091, is a 8,400 sq ft mansion that went into default when Rezko failed to pay on the $5.9 million note. He reportedly owes $5.08 million.
