Good Charlotte guitarist and backup vocalist Benji Madden may have a new love interest in Australia, but he’s not moving any time soon. Madden just purchased a rustic 1950s home in lower Nichols Canyon.

The house was listed in August 2012 for $1.099 million and received a price cut in October. Madden — not to be confused with twin brother and lead vocalist Joel Madden — snatched the bungalow for $1.125 million last month.

Unlike stucco Spanish-style homes characteristic of greater Los Angeles, the 2,183-square-foot home is wood from head to toe — from a dark wood exterior to hardwood floors and two wood-burning fireplaces. Adding to the home’s woodsy character are dense trees and vegetation on all sides.

The interior has 2 bedrooms and 3 baths, as well as a large living room with cathedral ceilings. An updated, open kitchen has a large bay window, bringing in ample natural light. French doors also lead  to an inviting brick patio.

Madden likely bought the home after returning from Good Charlotte’s tour in Australia to promote their latest album, “Cardiology.” He was also busy recording a new single titled “Breakdown” with Australian pop-rock group Tonight Alive, which is expected to go on sale March 15 via iTunes.

Madden’s home purchase also signals that the band may be settling down to record a new album this year.
