Bill Gates is dropping a mere $600K on a Florida rental.

For someone who is worth an estimated $59 billion, paying $600,000 a month is petty cash.
According to the Sun-Sentinel, Bill Gates will be renting a home in Wellington, FL this winter while his oldest daughter competes in the Winter Equestrian Festival. The festival is held for 12 weeks, January through April, and according to its website, is the “world’s largest and longest running equestrian competition.”
America’s richest man, now retired from Microsoft, spends most of his time heading up the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Gates has a private home on Lake Washington in the ultra-luxe neighborhood of Medina, just a little over 8 miles east of Seattle.
With Seattle’s rainy winter reputation, the Gates family will undoubtedly enjoy a little sunny respite in Wellington: average January temperatures there is 66 degrees versus 42 degrees in Seattle.
Gates’ rental home is currently listed on the Wellington real estate market for $12.99 million. Built in 1997, the home sits on 4 acres and has eight bedrooms, six bathrooms and 7,352 square feet of living space — more than enough for Bill, his wife Melinda and their three kids. Median Wellington home values are a little cheaper than Gates’ regular ‘hood, currently hitting at $210,900 while the median Medina home value is $1,286,600.
Gates isn’t the only big name to hang out in Wellington; previously, Bruce Springsteen had a home there for his daughter who also competed in equestrian events.
Gates’ rental home includes stables and tack room, as well as a pool, circular drive — with horse head fountain — as well as several outdoor living spaces.
Inside, the home has high ceilings, a wine cellar and tasting room and media room.
The listing is held by agent Maria Mendelsohn of Illustrated Properties.
