Bristol, CT Inspired Sarah Palin’s Naming of Bristol. Or, did it?

Who knew that Bristol (CT), was the inspiration for the naming of Sarah Palin’s daughter “Bristol”? In an AP story posted on the Hartford Courant about an upcoming Esquire feature article on Palin (quite a media-connect-the-dots mashup, eh?), it was revealed that when Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was in high school (in Wasilla, AK), “she wanted to be a sportscaster and was disappointed to learn where ESPN was located” — Bristol.  Evidently, it was too far away for Palin to want to pursue a job there, but she clung to the inspiration for the idea by naming her daughter Bristol.

But, wait a minute. In August of 2008, the NY Daily News ran a story that Palin named her daughter Bristol after Bristol Bay, AK — where the family fishes. Hmm, there’s something fishy going on here…

-I too have been inspired by things that I am interested in and have used the name to draw importance to it or recognition for others to find inspiration in it as well.
For Sara Palin to want to remember the town of her once dream job by naming her daughter Bristol is completely normal and good. Nothing fishy going on here…
The other factor in the naming of her daughter is that they have a Bay in AK with that very same name -BRISTOL-. To top it off, they have even traveled to Bristol Bay. Again perfectly normal and good.
I named my roofing business GALAXY ROOFING because I was and still am inspired by Galaxies. Not just the one that our own solar system is located in ether. There is more than one, you know. It is cool to use an existing name because it brings an instant connection with those whom have experience with it.

    PS.
    SARAH ROCKS!!!

Palin named her daughter after Bristol Bay where her husband has a fishing business. She is not the only girl in Alaska named after Bristol Bay. I know of at two more.

Nothing fishy about it except that Bristol Bay is home to the largest salmon fishery in the world.

She is not named for Bristol Ct.

Precisely why Sarah Palin named her daughter Bristol because it has inspired in many ways! There’s something fishy going on in this article.

That´s Palin. If she says 2 things in a row, there is a contradiction.
Nothing fishy about it except she just told ESQUIRE she named her daughter for city of BRISTOL, CONNECTICUT. In Aug. 2007, Palin told the THE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS that Bristol was named for Bristol Bay, Alaska where the whole family of liars goes fishing. There´s nothing fishy!

So lets pick on the ESQUIRE and THE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS for not asking any follow up questions. Like “could there possible be any another reason to name you daughter that?” Sarah is not a liar and you should apologize for being clinical.

    Let all be nice.

I love the Simpsons, so I am going to name my first born son Springfield.

She didn’t know that she would have to move to Bristol, Connecticut to work for a company that is located there?

Is this woman aware that if she became Vice-President that she would have had to work in Washington?

Maybe those of you who are so quick to claim Palin is lying may want to read the Esquire interview. In it she says her first daughter’s name came from three things. She once worked at place called the Bristol Inn, her husband comes from Bristol Bay, and in high school her dream job was being a sports reporter for ESPN, located in Bristol CT.

Why is it that some people lose all sense of rationality when it comes to falsely accusing Sarah Palin of some some kind of horrific misdeed?

How about THIS Sarah? WHY dont you just LEAVE YOUR KIDS out of it??????

    AND GLENN
Sarah´s explanation of ANYTHING is ALWAYS 3 things……

    Glen -

Thanks for responsible reporting. You apparently do not work for Zillow.

I named my first daughter Eden. Do you have any idea how many places in America are named Eden? Wanna guess where I came from?

Ever heard of a city named Destruction?

I don’t see how Sarah Palin’s naming her daughter Bristol is any more worthy of comments, pro or con, than Hillarity Clinton’s naming her daughter Chelsea, after a place she didn’t live either — or a song; what’s any of it got to do with futures in wheat or the price of a cocktail table or sniper fire for that matter, as to “lies” and who keeps laughing all the way to the bank?
