Connecticut Round House on Market for $2.3 Million

Round House

Zillow’s Famous Homes lineup contains collections of homes that we consider “famous” or remarkable for one reason or another. One of the themed lineups is Famous Unique Homes in which we show off the “Guitar House,” the “Airplane House” and a rotating home. One home that fell under our radar for that list was a mid-century modern in Wilton, Connecticut, named the “Round House.”

The reason the Round House is now coming to our attention is because it was recently listed on Zillow for $2,295,000. We have come to learn it was designed by Richard T. Foster, a renowned architect who collaborated with Philip Johnson on the famous Glass House. Coincidentally, the Glass House is located a mere eight miles from the Round House. Who knew that among Connecticut’s stately and soaring Georgian, Tudor and Victorian mansions exists affordable, cutting-edge architecture? OK, maybe not affordable to most of us, but when you take into account that this home was designed by a famous architect — who actually designed and built it for his family to live in — and it’s only 49 miles to the tip of Central Park in New York City (Beep-beep! Passing David Letterman and other celebs on I-95 en route to “the city”), you actually have yourself a little conversation piece.

Barbara Cleary, who has the listing, gives this description:

“Totally renovated in 2005, “The Round House” is walled in glass and floats 12 ft. off the ground rotating 360 degrees. It incorporates custom ash cabinetry, state-of-the-art Zenon interior lighting, luxurious marble & limestone baths, and “Smart House” technology in the main house.”

In case you have $2.3 million in your pocket and don’t want to drive all the way to Connecticut, take a look at this video of the inside of the Round House. And, we assume it really doesn’t spin that fast, right?

I always find those unique homes fascinating. I watch those tv shows on amazing homes and have seen ones like the round house what a great view they must have. Imagine watching the leaves change in the fall from those windows or the snow covered land wow. Wish I could aford it I buy it.

[...] Round House Very cool house in NY, but I would have liked some coverage about the mechanicals that turn the house, and not a shot of the urinal. (Courtesy of the Zillow Blog.) [...]
