David Spade might not be your typical Hollywood leading man, but that doesn’t mean the funny man’s talent hasn’t landed him in the ultimate California sandbox.
Malibu is known for a few things: stretches of golden, sandy beach, high-end real estate, and of course, luxurious celebrity homes. Quite a few of the stars’ houses are located along Pacific Coast Highway, including Spade’s home.
The former “Saturday Night Live” star has his Malibu real estate listing on the market for a fittingly odd number: $13.5 million. That’s $4,199,910 more than Spade paid in 2005 for the property.
Not bad for the man who once “starred” as a mullet-topped, Hillbilly loser in the low-rent sleeper, “Joe Dirt.”
Despite low home values nationwide, the housing market in Malibu is still expensive, with current home values of $1,507,500. According to the listing, Spade’s house was built in 1948 but was extensively updated and remodeled in 1996.
The comedian got his start on “SNL” in 1990, then went on to star in a few slapstick comedies. He moved to television in 1997 with his Emmy-nominated role on “Just Shoot Me,” and had a recurring role on ABC’s “8 Simple Rules.” Spade is currently starring in the sitcom “Rules of Engagement.”
Spade’s 4-bedroom, 3.5-bath house has 3,763 square feet of living space, not including a private, covered patio. The home has high ceilings, a cylinder staircase, four fireplaces and hardwood floors. Dunk in the home’s pool or walk directly down to the beach for a chance to cool off.
Agent Bryan Harper of Coldwell Banker holds the listing.
