Exposed! See Loan Requests and Mortgage Quotes
By: Mary Miller, Zillow Director Product Management, Mortgages | April 16, 2008
Some of you may have noticed some changes and additions we made to the Zillow Mortgage Marketplace landing page. In addition to links directly to our Credit Score Estimator and Mortgage Help Center topics, we’re now making it easy for anyone visiting Mortgage Marketplace to look at loan requests and mortgage quotes happening in real time.
To access this information, simply use the drop down menu on the Zillow Mortgage Marketplace landing page to search for all loan request and quote activity in the U.S., or you can pick a specific state. Here, you will see a list of the requests coming in for the area you selected. Clicking on any request in the list allows you to see all the details the borrower has provided, along with any mortgage quotes they have received from lenders. You can narrow your search results using the drop-down menus in the left-hand column to filter by area, search radius, loan amount, loan purpose, credit score, time on Zillow, loan type, occupancy type, or property type. In addition, at the top of the list, you can sort the search results by when the requests were created, location, number of quotes the requests already have, credit score, loan amount, loan to value ratio, or debt-to-income ratio.
If you’re thinking about getting a loan, but aren’t quite ready to submit a loan request, this is a great way to get a feel for the loan request and mortgage quote activity that’s happening in Zillow Mortgage Marketplace. By using the drop-down menu and search filter tools, you can get a sense of the rates and fees that borrowers similar to you are being quoted.

This is potentially a brilliant move to segment/filter out the curiosity seeks and improve the value of the inquiries that are submitted.
Loan officer fatigue/frustration and return on their time will be key to success in this product.
Kudos to actively building and tuning this platform for success.

I think this is a great idea. So many of the quote request are from people that are just curious, now they have a way to satisfy there questions without requesting a quote.

This is definitely a huge asset, and causes your leads to be higher quality, as homeowners will already have had most of their questions answered. Kudos!
