Family Wins Sleepover at ‘A Christmas Story’ House

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the classic holiday movie “A Christmas Story,” eBay recently auctioned off the opportunity for one person (and 3 guests) to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at the actual Christmas Story house at 3159 W 11th St, Cleveland, OH 44109. This is a unique opportunity because no one besides owner Brian Jones and a few friends have ever stayed in the house since he bought it on eBay in 2005 for $150,000. This year, a lucky family from Pennsylvania submitted the winning bid of $5,250 to sleepover at the house and eat a “Chinese turkey” dinner of Peking duck, just like in the movie.
The famous home is open year round for tours. Jones also bought the house across the street and converted it into the Christmas Story House and Museum. Approximately 4,000 people attended this year’s annual convention over Thanksgiving weekend and more than 30,000 people visit the house each year. So that’s probably why Jones set his Make Me Move price for the place at $10 million dollars.
For all the movie trivia buffs out there, check out the Home Alone house (photo above) in Chicago and Buddy’s NYC apartment building from Will Ferrell’s movie “Elf.” If that’s not enough, you can see more Famous Homes on Zillow.
