As we head into the weekend, I thought it would be fun to talk about a recent Forbes online article that lists the Best Cities for Singles.
Which got me to thinking… what does it cost to live in one of these meat markets? I did a lookup of the Zindex (median Zestimate) for each of the top 10 and then checked out the % increase from last year.
1. Denver-Boulder: $411,793 Increased 9.5%
2. Boston: $429,432 Decreased 2.1%
3. Phoenix: $232,707 Increased 24.7%
4. San Francisco: $853,898 Decreased 0.9%
5. New York: $939,076 Increased 10.4%
6. Raleigh-Durham: $179,104 Increased 6.4%
7. Seattle: $431,070 Increased 15.1%
8. Austin: $175,379 Increased 8.6%
9. Washington- Baltimore: $180,612 Increased 21.1%
10. Miami: $328,224 Increased 20.5%

I live in Denver. I lived in Philly, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore. All I got to say is Forbes is full of crap. I love how they rate “coolness”, and “Culture” Their ideas of “coolness” and “Culture” are that of a lame suburbanite. They give a cowtown like Denver a highscore in them, but cities with amazing museums, tons of colleges, and cool culture like Philly and Pittsburgh a low score. They must have stopped at the shopping malls. Hey Forbes, there is more then just Cherry Creek to check out.
