8320 Grand View Dr, Los Angeles CA
For sale: $3.995 million
Although his career was made representing Gap, Calvin Klein, Versace and Tommy Hilfilger, former model Jason Shaw confesses that he’s always had a love of architecture.
Shaw bought a foreclosure a little over a year ago and with a team transformed the property into a modern, light-filled home.
The Hollywood Hills home was dilapidated when Shaw bought it, but as he explains, that was exactly what he was looking for.
“I saw this house and thought this is exactly what I’m looking for — a house that needs a lot of work,” he said. “It was really in the doing. Not to be cliche, but I really wanted to do it.”
Built in the 1990s, the home had “good bones.” Shaw and his team — which included an architect and numerous professionals who tackled the plumbing, electrical and roof — opened the floor plan, adding windows and a central, floating staircase.
“It goes above and beyond what most people do in a $4 million home,” Chang said. “It’s so much better than its competition.”
Cantilevered on the edge of a hillside, the home’s most defining feature, besides its modern interior, is the sweeping, unbarred view of the Los Angeles skyline.
The 3-bedroom, 3.5-bath home also has plenty of outdoor living space, including a rooftop deck, a modern kitchen with high-end appliances and smart house technology that can be controlled by an iPad.
