Frank Lloyd Wright’s Ennis House on Market for $15 Million

The Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Ennis House, which has been used in movies such as “Blade Runner,” “House on Haunted Hill,” as well as TV shows like “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Twin Peaks, ” is listed for sale for $15 million, according to Curbed LA.

Ennis House Foundation is a non-profit that owns the house, and has done considerable work stabilizing and restoring it after the 1994 Northridge earthquake and the 2004-2005 winter floods, but now the foundation has decided to sell to a private owner “…with the vision and resources to give this beloved Los Angeles landmark the level of care it needs and deserves.” Christies Great Estates has the Ennis House listing.

The Ennis House is located at 2607 Glendower Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027 and was built for Mabel and Charles Ennis in 1924 and is constructed of concrete block. It is one of four textile block houses Frank Lloyd Wright designed. The others are:

• Millard House — 645 Prospect Crescent, Pasadena, CA (recently sold for $5 million)
• Storer House - 8161 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA
• Freeman House - 1962 Glencoe Way, Los Angeles, CA
  

In a letter to the Ennis’, Wright wrote:

You see, the final result is going to stand on that hill a hundred years or more. Long after we are gone it will be pointed out as the Ennis House and pilgrimages will be made to it by lovers of the beautiful - from everywhere.
