Jail for Sale in Skowhegan, Maine. Inmates Not Included
By: Diane Tuman, Zillow Content Manager | May 28, 2008
Churches have been converted into homes, train stations have been converted into museums, gas stations have been converted into art, and now a jail in Skowhegan, Maine, is listed for sale for $200,000, with the idea it could be converted into… something. Perhaps a restaurant, or an art gallery or even a bus station. It’s listed as a “multi-family” dwelling, is 15,000+ square feet, on approximately 3/4’s of an acre and was built in 1897. Unique amenities include razor wire, a state-of-the-art security and alarm system, and sleeping room for about 100. Interested? Contact the real estate agent.
By the way, you know you’re in Maine if homes that are listed for sale still have snow drifts prominently displayed on their for sale listings. Summer’s coming, Mainers!
