Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck Buy Cliff May-Style Home

Unless you don’t care about celebrity real estate, or simply missed the headline, Hollywood power couple Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck purchased a Pacific Palisades house recently for $17,555,000. According to the LA Times, this home is a Cliff May-designed home, known for its low-slung, open style that puts a premium on accessibility to the outdoors. Ranchostyle.com offers a nice description of Cliff May’s style:
It is not uncommon in Cliff May homes to find that every room in the house has a connection to the outdoors. Floor-to-ceiling glass takes the place of walls to bring light and nature in, creating a relationship to the outdoors that is as much a part of the home as the decor.
Bennifer, as their little portmanteau mashup is known, purchased this home from producer Brian Grazer, (“A Beautiful Mind,” “Apollo-13″). According to Luxist, Bennifer got a good deal since Grazer listed it for nearly $27 million in 2007. However, Grazer is the one who really made a nice profit since he bought the home in 1992 for $2.65 million. I took the liberty to outline the parcel in the lower frame because it’s such an oddly-shaped parcel with just enough road frontage to allow a driveway.
Another fun tidbit about the home: it was once owned by old-time movie star Gregory Peck who, with his wife, Greta, posed for an ad in Life magazine for Pabst Blue Ribbon beer from his favorite spot in the house — the den. (See the ad below, on sale here). Maybe Ben and Jen can recreate the scene around a bar in the den with some PBR?

I am not sure Ben should be doing an add like this, since he is a recovering alcoholic…but that is just my opinion.

Talk about a guy who has a great life! Beautiful houses, recognition and celebrity, hooked up with J-Lo when she was still hot, and now with one of the hottest hollywood actresses who seems as real as she is gorgeous. My hats off to Ben Affleck!

Funniest thing I’ve seen was when Ben got caught at a gas station by some poparazzi with a copy of “An Idiot’s Guide To Acting” in the backseat of the car.
But I guess he’s the one laughing to the bank!
