Katy Perry Slashes Price on Hollywood Hills Home
Pop sensation Katy Perry is determined to sell the property she bought with ex-husband Russell Brand, putting her final connection to the relationship behind her. After listing the 7-bedroom, 11-bath Hollywood Hills home in April, the 28-year-old singer just dropped her asking price by $430,000.
Now listed for $6.495 million, Perry is asking $5,000 less than she and Brand, a British comedian, bought it for in 2011. But finalizing their divorce isn’t the only reason Perry is motivated to sell. She reportedly never lived in the home, preferring to buy a mid-century modern house in the neighborhood a month ago for her main residence.
Located at 8159 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90069 on a three-acre compound, Perry and Brand’s Spanish-style home has appeal with a gated entrance, notable architectural details and views of the Los Angeles cityscape. It also neighbors Frank Lloyd Wright’s famed Storer House, one of the four Mayan Revival-style homes he built in L.A. between 1922 and 1924.
Even with the price cut, Perry’s place is still priced well above the median Hollywood Hills home value of $1.3395 million. A prospective buyer may overlook the expense, however, simply for the home’s location: a block from L.A.’s Sunset Strip.
Other highlights of the property include a guest house built in 2004, a lagoon-style pool with waterfall and lofted ceilings throughout the residence, which create a spacious feel in the main living rooms.
This isn’t the only home Perry and Brand owned together — the former couple listed and sold a 3-bedroom in Los Feliz a few months before Brand filed for a divorce. Since the divorce, Perry’s music career has continued to rise, recently with the revenge-inspired song “Part of Me.”
