Live Mortgage Rates via Zillow Mortgage API’s
By: Drew Meyers, Zillow Business Development Specialist | March 11, 2009
With 1.4 million mortgage quotes in Zillow Mortgage Marketplace, we can report live mortgage rates (explore mortgage rates.) Now, we have started to syndicate those mortgage rates to members of the Zillow API Network. Within minutes of a loan being quoted on Zillow its rates can be displayed on your website.
I blogged about our new mortgage API calls back in September, and wanted to give a couple examples of mortgage rate implementations that have been built over the past few months. Here are two real estate sites that have integrated our GetRateSummary API:
Real Property Associates (lower left)
If you’re curious about the development process that went into this module, Robbie Paplin posted an overview of the process he went through over at Geek Estate Blog
Goral Real Estate (upper left)
Those are just two examples. WIth the API, you maintain complete design flexibility to make the rate module fit your own color scheme. If getting real time mortgage rates on your web site is of interest to you, head over and take a look at our documentation. And don’t forget that you can take advantage of our co-branding technology by adding a simple parameter at the end of the link. If you’d like mortgage rates on your site, but don’t need as much flexibility to wrap the rates inside your own CSS, we have a variety of mortgage rate widgets available for you.
Happy coding!

Drew,
Is there a way to integrate a CRM where a potential client can leave their info and then be contacted by one of my loan officers or by email notification when something is in their range?

Mark-
Yes, you can weave this into a CRM form as a call to action to help you capture information from your visitors. However…it needs to be VERY clear that the user is sending their contact information to you, and not to Zillow. Hope this helps.

I like it. Let me mess around with my blog over the weekend and see what I can come up with.

Nice. A wordpress plugin for this would be pretty cool…

A WP plugin would make things easier. My only concern is driving traffic back to Zillow and away from my blog’s contributors. I know, seems selfish, but it is still my main barrier to integrating something like this on my site.
Your foreclosure.com idea works OK on my blog because it gives my visitors an idea of the homes that they can buy with our mortgage help.
I’ll try and spend a little time over the next week doing some more research to see if this rate alert thing will be beneficial. I’d like to figure out a way to make it work.
Just trying to get in good with zillow so that I’ll have a job when you guys decide to become a bank and put everyone else out of business. lol
