Magnetic Paint and Chalkboard Paint Puts Fun Back in Plain Old Paint
Does it ever feel like the walls are closing in on you? Or perhaps they are simply dull or dingy. There are numerous functional and lovely wall treatments to choose from – ones that have nothing to do with plain old paint.

Though this has become trendy in the past two years, it is still a great way to turn a wall into a place for messages, grocery lists or musings. One dark wall is far less depressing than an entire room, especially when most of it is filled with chalk. If even one black wall is too much for you, there are numerous colors to choose from and you can even make your own chalkboard paint. How cool is that? Another option is to paint a small area, say a border or the inside of your kitchen cabinets.

If you hate hanging pictures (it takes so long!) this is a great way to display artwork, or any piece of paper, in a minimalist fashion. Just paint the base layer with magnetic paint, slap your preferred room color over it, and use the magnets of your choice to keep pages on the wall. If minimalism isn’t your thing go ahead and put a collage of posters all over the wall.

Yes, you can use both. This is especially useful in a home office situation – you can leave yourself notes and stick important messages on the wall. Just make sure the chalkboard paint is on top.
