Make My Neighbor Move?

By: Drew Meyers, Zillow Business Development Specialist | March 9, 2007

Nina over at QueerCents suggested a playful twist on our Make Me Move feature and as a result, provided us with the perfect Friday Fun topic for this week.  Nina’s post "Can Zillow Make Me Move?" ran yesterday morning and at the end of it, she gave us a rather interesting product suggestion:

I hope that Zillow will add another feature called Make My Neighbor Move. We have one fellow in particular that I would nominate and if someone made him move, then my Make Me Move price would increase immediately.

Zing! "Make My Neighbor Move!" Love it! I’m guessing many people know one or two residents of their community who fall into the unwanted neighbor’s camp. Maybe that guy down the street that has 4 cars torn apart in the driveway. Or the dude with the satellite dish that is bigger than his house. Or the couple that has declared a moratorium on trimming their shrubs and trees –"Is there a house in there somewhere?" What would you pay to get your unwanted neighbor to move?

By all means, keep the product suggestions coming — we are listening.

Funny, sometimes my neighbors ask me if I can talk certain people into selling because they want new neighbors. Sometimes I tell my next door neighbor that if she doesn’t behave her self she will come home from work one day and find a for sale sign in front of her house. :)

haha - i think almost every neighborhood has the oddballs that people want to get rid of. I wonder if anyone has SERIOUSLY secretly put a “for sale” sign in someone’s front lawn? Seems like it could be a pretty fun joke to play on a neighbor.

Is there some sort of annoying low sound device I can aim at them? They are renters from hell!! They are inconsiderate! They throw their kids toys in my yard. They ignore their dog and it is just left in the back yard. He howls and carries on all the time trying to get attention! The hoor that “owns” him is some slutty, knocked up, tattooed skank!! I am seriously gonna rent the place out just to get away from them for some peace and quiet!! Please!!! Make my neighbor move!!

Ohh my, well some indians moved into the house nextdoor to mine, It’s been like seven months since that happened, but I’ve already lost my mind, they make a lot of noise with a mchine of theirs, something like a hammer, and it seems like they spend a hack of a lot time outdoors.
Well the thing is that they rented the house for a year, can you guys give me suggestions so I can get those assholes to move before I go nuts????
I heard something about a device called “Sonic Devastator” just google it if you are interested, however I don’t know whether it works.
So Sophia I understand your situation because the witch that owns the house is just as bad as the asshole who rented it.
I hope we can come up with a good strategy to get the bugs out of there!

Frank, I feel your pain. I have gotten rid of my horrible, dog abusing, neighbors, yeaaa! I called animal services on them all the time for letting their pit bull run loose instead of in a pen or on a leash (these idiots didn’t own a leash) since the city declared it a vicious animal. They impounded it and have been feeding it since July! The former neighbor is up on criminal charges for letting that thing run amok! I did use Bird-X to quiet the giant howling dog. I couldn’t get sleep without it. I would def look into the sonic blaster thing you mentioned. Call code on them if the yard is junky. Call the cops if they are yelling outside and so on. Keep in m ind you are probably not the only one bothered by these folks. Good luck!

    Help!!!!!!!!!!
I try to follow the pacifist path but I lost it now.
So, my upstairs asshole, regardless the numerous complains keeps continue his maddening strolls on the hardwood floor in his shinny/shinny shoes middle of the nite. I wake up every freaking night between 12 and 2AM of him walking, moveing furniture, turning his music on loud, slamming every freaking door around the house. When I desperately called the cops on him, I figured it doesn`t matter how many times I ask him nice to take off his fking shoes and turn his music off he will keep doing it, he said he is going to report our dogs had attacked him. They hate him, they bark at him and charge him if they see him outside, but they are on leash all the time. I always avoid him if I`m w the dogs, trying to be considerate.
No other neighbors of mine dare to complain it`s only meeeee, again.
    Help!

    Dinky -

Sorry to hear that. I can’t help you. Please consider speaking to your local police and having them contact the home’s owner.

Look up the city ordinances regarding accumulation of trash, nusiance barking, not picking up dog poop, Criminal trespassing warnings, etc….. You would be amazed at what you can legaly file as a complaint and what people can be ticketed for.

This is a post for Dinky. Congrats on the pregnacy, how far along are you?

Anyway so your “issue” with the neighbor and the way I see it. So your neighbor is kind enough to invite you and your husband over for drinks on july 4th. Your husband goes home but you stay for another drink?. Hmm you must have been having a “good time” huh?. So now you say you “ended up waking up on his lawn batered and brused”?. Do you do this sort of thing often, you now, go to someone’s house from drinks and end up waking up on thier lawn?. Anyway, so the following week you find out that you had sex with your neighbor?. Now you want to cry rape beacause of course you wouldn’t have allowed sex to happen, A wife who stays at her neighbor’s having drinks while her husband sits at home?. Well I’m curious now as to when this happened, and again how far along in the prenancy are you?. Again, Good Luck !!

It is so upsetting to have a neighbor that their own landlord cannot seem to get them evicted even through the court system! I have three young children and not a day goes by that we can actually walk out our front door to not see these animals fighting, cursing and yelling at each other.Today I found out that it is believed to be a crack house by police! It seems like someone will have to get seriously hurt by these people before action is taken. Their children were taken from them last Friday because they locked their 8yr.old son out the house all day. What kind of people are they?
