I received a call from my 72 step-father this weekend about something that took me slightly by surprise.
“I want you to set me up with one of those FHA Reverse Mortgages”, he said.
“Uh, okay - I would be happy to if that is what you want… but don’t you want to know more about how the FHA reverse mortgage program works first?”
“Nope. I already know everything there is to know - I talked to your grandfather and he told me everything, so fix me up!”
At this point, it dawned on me: there was not much that I could say one way or another to influence his decision. By the time he picked up the phone and called me, his mind had been made up.
Which got me to thinking…
I suspect that many seniors talk with multiple friends about getting a reverse mortgage before they actually make the decision.
And if they don’t?
I highly recommend that they do.
After all, what better way to learn the “real” story about something than to speak with someone who is currently using the product?
Are you thinking about possibly getting an FHA-insured reverse mortgage?
A good place to start learning more about the *real story* with them is by asking your friends who currently have one. And what if you don’t currently have any friends who have a FHA-insured reverse mortgage?
You can borrow some of mine: my grandfather currently has one and whatever he said to my step-father, he is in the process of getting one.
Contact me anytime to get their contact information.
