For motorsports fans, Mooresville, NC, is synonymous with one thing — NASCAR. The small town north of Charlotte — along with the nearby towns of Concord, NC and Kannapolis, NC — lie in the heart of stock car racing country, with the majority of NASCAR teams and drivers calling the area home.

But another type of horsepower also can be found in the area’s tranquil pastures.

NASCAR driver Joe Nemechek, the 1992 Busch Series (now Nationwide Series) champ, is auctioning off his 139-acre equestrian estate, Finncastle, through Concierge Auctions.

Built in 2001 for former NASCAR driver Ernie Irvan, the home at 0 El Cardenal Farms Ln., Mooresville, NC 28115, has 5 bedrooms, 6 full baths and 2 half baths in more than 8,000 square feet of luxury living space. Other features include a large chef’s kitchen with Viking appliances, 6-seat home theater, heated in-ground pool, 3-car attached garage and 3-car detached garage with workshop space.

For horse lovers, there’s a professionally managed Olympic-caliber equestrian center with 18 European-style front stalls, indoor and outdoor riding arenas, miles of trails, a track room with private lockers and a media center.

The Charlotte-area property originally was offered for $10.995M and is being auctioned Aug. 2 without reserve.
